Anyone know much about the lung maturity test?
I posted on Parenting too. I'm nervous and don't know if it's worth it..

were you told to get it? the lungs usually mature at the end weeks.. and then continue as the baby grows.
I never heard of this before. why are you nervous?

Yes, my docs are considering it for me because the baby is causing me alot of pain with my spinal fusion (and other herniations that aren't fused). They said they could do the test at 37 weeks and possibly deliver her then if the lungs are mature. If I don't do the test, I will have to wait until 39 weeks for the c-section.

If your doctor is going to deliver you prior to 39 weeks they have to do the lung maturity amnio. Then as long as the lungs are mature enough they will induce/c-section. The results take about 6 hours- 1 day depending upon the lab...I was going to have one on Monday to induce on Tuesday BUT b/c I am so far along already (with dialation etc) and b/c of history they dont need to do it..they are just going to induce on Tuesday.
