Re: Anyone know the rule for wisdom teeth?
If they are impacted they should be, because they can cause more pain throughout the years and get harder to pull the older you are.
My doc recommended mine were pulled even though they weren't impacted because they are hard to brush and develop bad cavities. I've had two pulled so far but haven't gone for the ther 2 yet.

Re: Anyone know the rule for wisdom teeth?
Nope - mine haven't been. the dentist told me they didn't need to be unless they became impacted or I had pain.

Re: Anyone know the rule for wisdom teeth?
I swore I would only get mine pulled if they hurt. I turned 28 and I needed 2 out on my right side.

Re: Anyone know the rule for wisdom teeth?
I was holding onto all 4 of mine for dear life! They were all completely in- not impacted- though there wasn't much room for them so they crowded my other teeth a bit. One on the top had a really bad cavity in it and they recommended I get it pulled. I put that off for about 3 years- until I had to have another molar pulled (non wisdom) in the same area and figured I'd get the decaying wisdom tooth out while I was all numbed up anyway. It honestly popped right out- I guess it was really badly decayed! But I still have the other 3 and they aren't causing me any problems.

Re: Anyone know the rule for wisdom teeth?
3 of mine were impacted and the doctor decided to pull all 4 becasue he said "there is no need for them"
Getting them pulled was not bad at all, I was fine after 2 days

Re: Anyone know the rule for wisdom teeth?
I was only born with 2 wisdom teeth (yay).
I had 1 removed about 5 yrs ago because it was scraping the inside of my cheek and the Dentist was afraid it would cause an infection.

So did my dentist. He did throw in as long as I could close my mouth as well.

Re: Anyone know the rule for wisdom teeth?
I had one removed a little less than a year ago...Hust so happens that my 2 bottom ones were impacted and the top's are already in. I happend to get a SEVERE infection that was traveling up my face 2 days before my wedding and was on antiboitics and painkillers at my wedding as well. That was THE WORST pain EVER, dont wish that on anyone. I would not wait if they are impacted because the pain from your infection will make you so sick.
Having it surgically removed was a piece of cake...No pain at all, I was VERY surprised. I strongly reccomend having them done one at a time or 2 & 2...Not all 4 at once.!

Re: Anyone know the rule for wisdom teeth?
I've had all mine removed, one at a time. I tried to ignore the last one because I was of the mind that it wasn't really necessary since it wasn't impacted, but when I finally got around to having it checked out it had decayed pretty badly and I was sent to an oral surgeon to have it removed that same day. If your dentist says to have it removed, you probably should.

Re: Anyone know the rule for wisdom teeth?
If it hurts already, get it pulled. One of mine was really painful for about a week, and by the time I saw my dentist it had gone away. He said the pain would come and go, but get worse each time. I had it removed asap.
