Those of you that had your wisdom teeth pulled...
Did you do it because they were bothering you or because your dentist said they were impacted so you should?

Re: Those of you that had your wisdom teeth pulled...
Impacted. All four were actually growing vertically towards my cheeks I got all four done at the same time. It was 16 years ago when I was on college... oh God, saying that last sentence was more painful than getting the teeth out

Re: Those of you that had your wisdom teeth pulled...
One was causing pain, not impacted.
Two were impacted (bottom) and the oral surgeon said sooner rather than later (and while I was on my folks' insurance, I was in college)
The last one was impacted and I was having lots of sinus pain and head pain on the side where the tooth was. So I had it pulled, thinking it might help. Plus, my wedding was soon and I didn't want to wait for it to really become a problem.

Re: Those of you that had your wisdom teeth pulled...
I had all 4 of mine removed at once. One was impacted and the dentist said I didn't have enough room in my mouth for the rest to come in. He said if I let it go then they would make my teeth crooked.

I'm having one removed tomorrow. It was causing cysts to grow. My cheek would swell and I'd get a fever.

Re: Those of you that had your wisdom teeth pulled...
I was advised by my dentist to have them all removed, especially prior to becoming pregnant.
I had all 4 removed at the same time.

Re: Those of you that had your wisdom teeth pulled...
One was infected, all were impacted... since I'm such a baby the doc told me to get them all done or else I'd never come back to get the rest. I think it was much worse because I already had the infection going on and I have a condition called ankylosis in which the teeth FUSE to the bone in your jaw so that made it harder for the doc. He had told my dad it would only take 45 min but it was nearly 2 hours!
I have had friends though, who had the surgery and went out to a bar THAT NIGHT!!

Re: Those of you that had your wisdom teeth pulled...
All were impacted, I had very little discomfort. I just wanted them out not to deal with any problems later on. They took all 4 at once.

this is exactly what happened with me. it was actually much easier to get the 3 at one time that werent infected than the one that was.

Re: Those of you that had your wisdom teeth pulled...
All 4 were impacted and never caused pain. DDS suggested getting them pulled before they started to rot and cause more damage.

My doctor said that mine were impacted, so I had them pulled, but they weren't bothering me. I did all four at once and had them put me out for it!

Only had one removed because it was impacted. The procedure itself wasnt bad but the recovery was very painful, I couldnt talk, eat for like a week.

Re: Those of you that had your wisdom teeth pulled...
Many years ago a denstist had told me they were impacted, but they never bothered me so I never did anything.
Fast forward a few years and another dentist found cavities in the top two, and since my mouth is so small, they couldn't fill them, so I had to have them pulled. The Dr said to pull all four, so he gave me a few shots of novocain, and pulled them all out. I needed some stitches, but I was fine. I remember my DH was in shock b/c I was eating steak that night

Re: Those of you that had your wisdom teeth pulled...
They were impacted and they were bothering me so bad. The best thing I did was get two pulled at one time, both on the same side though.

I had one removed because my dentist said it was going to get impacted. One is fine and the other 2 never grew in!

Re: Those of you that had your wisdom teeth pulled...
I did it because one of mine was hurting, so I went to the dentist who referred me to the oral surgeon. The oral surgeon told me I should just get them all out, so I did.

both...1 was impacted (bottom) so that one had to come out...but then the oposite tooth (top) was absolutly fine had to go cause there was nothing to push against since the bottom one came out. both teeth were pulled out same day

Re: Those of you that had your wisdom teeth pulled...
Mine were growing in and bumping into each other. They filed them down, but there was no room for them. The gum kept getting infected. I first had one out, and it was horrible. The dentist did it himself in his office and it took 2 hours and was just awful. I had the next two taken out by the oral surgeon, and that pretty easy and painless. I just had novocaine, and it took about 15 mins for both.
