anyone live in the locust valley area?

we just bought in LV in december and now that the weather is nicer, i've noticed the nats and bugs are just ridiculous! (the swamp is right near is so that's the reason) does anyone live in or near LV that have this problem too? is there anything I can do to reduce the amount? thanks

I'm not in Locust Valley, but close enough. We are in a fairly wooded area, especially the surrounding towns like Muttontown and the Brookvilles. It's pretty common and I am not sure how much you can do. We always use bug spray while in our yard, especially at dusk and at night, and we have a rather large mosquito zapper at the edge our our yard, near the woods. The mosquitoes don't love me for some reason, but they love my DH and kids!

hey kimmie i was just talking to my brother who lives in NC about this issue we have it too in lindy... anyway he said dish soap and water put it in a spary bottle and go nuts... its safe for the baby and dogs. just makes the grass a lilttle slippery!

thanks so much for the replies. ignore me being stupid, but am i supposed to spray directly at the gnats? haha we're thinking of getting an in ground pool and i'm worried it's gonna be even worse with a pool :-/ I don't know what to do
