Anyone NOT doing a big 1st B-day?
I really wasn't thinking of doing anything big for Roman in January, but now I'm wondering if I should. I'm going to a 1st B-day party at Russo's on the Bay next month. Am I out of the norm?

Russo's on the Bay for a 1st birthday?? We are lucky that DS was born in June, so we are planning to have a BBQ next year for his 1st b-day. I think it's perfectly fine to do something small, like having the grandparents over for cake or something...

Re: Anyone NOT doing a big 1st B-day?
We aren't. We debated it -- but she won't remember it and we just don't have the money for it. So we are having 14 people over for cake -- just my parents, DH's parents, and our brothers and sisters and their families. We'll have a 2 oclock party with cake and we'll all just hang out. I'm ordering matching plates, cups, etc from Birthdayexpress.com and it'll just be a cute little party for her.

WE didn't. Andrew's first b-day was a small party at our house with fmaily only. Not even my aunts and uncles, just my brothers and sisters (Andrew's aunt and uncle). We will do the same for lauren.

Re: Anyone NOT doing a big 1st B-day?
If we hadn't bought a new house I think we would have done something much more low key but its kind of a birthday/open house. Here in CO big birthdays for any age just aren't the norm. We haven't been invited to a single 1st birthday and just went to our first kid's birthday parties this summer since Miranda is getting to the age where she has "friends".

We arent doing anything BIG for Jacob either. He will be one 3 days after Christmas so we are just going to have grandparents and uncles and a few of my close friends over. Its too hectic around the holidays.

Re: Anyone NOT doing a big 1st B-day?
I really wanted to do a party for Sara but it is just to expensive. I think we might have a party a GYmboree since she loves it there . I would do something at my house IF my downstairs is finished by then. We have a small house and not much sitting space . Has anyone been to a party at Gymboree for a 1 year old?

Re: Anyone NOT doing a big 1st B-day?
Noah's friend Tom was born two days before hand, so we are having a joint birthday party for the two boys. We have around 20 of the Chorlton Bad Mothers Club babies whose birthdays are in Dec/Jan, so we are going to go to A BILLION parties at that time.

Re: Anyone NOT doing a big 1st B-day?
I'm not going to make a big party. Our place is small and doing it in another place is too expensive He is so little and he wont remember... so we are going to celebrate just with family and a couple of friends.

We're not going to do anything big. Probably just family and a few friends at my moms - since her house is bigger than mine.

We didn't do anything huge either. I had a small party at the house and then we did a small Chuckie Cheese Party.

Re: Anyone NOT doing a big 1st B-day?
Russo's on the bay is a bit too much but you gotta have some kind of party. Remember they only turn 1 once and the first birthday is always special. I know they won't remember it but it's still a very special birthday...

Same here. I wish I had a summer baby a BBQ would be much easier. Russo's on the Bay for a 1st bday is obnoxious!

Re: Anyone NOT doing a big 1st B-day?
We just had Hayley's party yesterday. It was bigger than what I planned but she only turns 1 once. We aren't going to do a big party every year so we figured we would do it now. Once she gets older and in school, we will have kiddie partys.
