Anyone not feel contractions?
Last night I was on the fetal monitor and I was contracting, but not feeling them. I do however feel nonstop pressure or pain in my back. Anyone go into labor and only feel back pain, not actual contractions?

Re: Anyone not feel contractions?
Yes, with my first - I don't know if it was the position he was in or what - but I had horrible back pain - which was labor - I never felt the contractions in the front - just in my back.

Re: Anyone not feel contractions?
My water broke and my contractions didn't start until about 4 hours later.
Just when I thought that I couldn't take it anymore, I actually fell asleep
When I woke up they told me that I was still having contractions, but I didn't feel them at all until they gave me pitocin to make them stronger.

Re: Anyone not feel contractions?
Yes - I was in the hospital for monitoring (they sent me after an appt.) - they happened to give me an internal and I was 5 cm. I thought I was just having Braxton Hicks. During my entire labor I only felt back pain - no contractions. By the time I got to 8 cm - there was NO mistaking what they were though, so don't be too worried. You will probably feel them more intense if you are in labor. Good luck!

Re: Anyone not feel contractions?
WHen I was monitored (with NSTs) I would have them occasionally not feel them. When I actually went into labor, I DEFINITELY felt them.

Re: Anyone not feel contractions?
I was having Braxton Hicks contractions every 2 minutes and didn't realize it. Not labor though...

Re: Anyone not feel contractions?
I didn't feel any contractions.. nothing!... at around 4:30am I was awoken because I felt something like a menstrual cramp and then I woke up again maybe 20 minutes later and felt the same, fell asleep again, then at 5am I don't recall the feeling but I quickly got out of bed and their went my water..
not until maybe 11am when the Dr came and gave me pitocin did I feel a contraction.

Re: Anyone not feel contractions?
Wow..so much like me!
My water broke..thats the only reason I knew I was going into labor. When they put me on the monitor when I go to the hospital, they said I was contracting, I felt nothing. I had a little back pain to start but I ALWAYS have back pain so I didnt think it was contractions.
Then they gave me cervidil and pitocin..oh HELL YEA..THEN I had contractions. But NEVER in my stomach. My entire labor was in my back. It was crazy!!!

Re: Anyone not feel contractions?
With my first - I had a NST and found out I was in labor and having contractions 5 min apart - I had felt nothing. But it wasn't the real deal - but I can say after that I was able to recognize them the rest of my pregnancy. Wound up my water broke first for the real deal so I knew what was going on (even though I even questioned that). The contractions soon followed. With my 2nd I was so nervous I didn't think I would know when I went into labor if my water didn't break like the first time. I was also having contractions for months and didn't think I'd know what was real..Let me tell you when it happens - I knew - I felt it although I spent the whole day pretty much in denial.

Thank you for sharing this. I guess I will just know when it is time. I totally fear the unknown!

Re: Anyone not feel contractions?
DW didn't feel contractions. We were at a scheduled ob/gyn visit, and they told her she was having contractions, according to the monitor. Water broke later that night, and DS delivered by c/s in the early am. No noticeable contractions the whole time.

Re: Anyone not feel contractions?
Yup, for my whole labor. Only back pains, which came at regular intervals and lasted for as long as a "real" contraction would, but never "real" abdominal contractions.
ETA: I knew I was in labor because my water broke with a GUSH before the back pains started.
