Anyone NOT team green bc of neutral nursery?

I never ever wanted to find out the sex of the baby, I have a million reasons to wait BUT the one thing that is killing me is the bedding! I can't find one that I LOVE. There are cute ones but I feel like if I do find out what I'm having it will be so much easier to decorate and shop. Anyone change from team Chat Icon bc of nursery issues? Chat Icon

I'm not on team green but if you plan on keeping the baby in a bassinet in your room for a couple of months you can wait to buy the bedding and decorate the room until the baby is born. DS was in our room in the bassinet for about 2 1/2 months.

Re: Anyone NOT team green bc of neutral nursery?

I am on team green and was with DS. We just picked out bedding for each gender and I ordered it when he was born. The walls were painted green. Nursery was set up in a couple of hours - no need to go for neutral bedding if you don't want to!

Re: Anyone NOT team green bc of neutral nursery?

Yeah those are really good points. I'm thinking to paint different shades of browns & beiges somehow with white furniture. The bedding for both Chat Icon or Chat Icon usually has lots of beiges in it, especially the ones I like. Very good point, I dont need the bedding right away, the bassinet I like anyway is completely unisex anyway. Thank you so much for your help!

DH's cousin was team Chat Icon and this is what she did.

She painted the room a neutral color. she found 2 beddings she loved, one Chat Icon and one Chat Icon . After she had baby Luke Chat Icon, DH's aunt washed the boy bedding and returned the girl's one. It was perfect!

Re: Anyone NOT team green bc of neutral nursery?

when I was PG, I had to have the whole neutral bedding set and spent all this $ at pottery barn. well, DD is almost 1 year old and her quilt was never used and gathers dust in her closet. I wish I didn't buy that and got a girly bed ruffle, some artwork, and some sheets after she was born. She was in a PNP in our room for 6 weeks. I could have totally used all that money more wisely! but I totally understand the desire to decorate!

TOTALLY agree. We were team Chat Icon and we spent all this $$ on bedding and the only thing we have used is the fitted sheet and ruffle. To think of what I could have done with all the money spent on that 8 piece set or whatever it was Chat Icon.

TRY TO STAY STRONG THOUGH!!! There is no greater surprise in the world than the day you will deliver your little baby and hear the doctor say "It's a ______!" Pottery Barn kids does have some beautiful neutral bedding sets though. Also you can register/buy some neutral pieces for now (rather than a full on set if you don't love it) and then when your baby gets here you can add more of the gender specific touches - like in the bumper or the dust ruffle and the artwork in pink or blue. Re: Anyone NOT team green bc of neutral nursery?

I'm Chat Icon and doing a neutral nursery as this is our first baby so I'd want a neutral nursery regardless. Our child will have plenty of time for a gender specific bedroom. Maybe that thought can help you decide. There are lots of options. Keep looking.

I am team green and the only thing that kills me is the nursery!! I'm fine with buying clothes after the baby comes, but I want to decorate a gender specific nursery sooooo bad. Either way we are not going to find out and I have some really cute ideas for a gender nuetral nursery:)

Re: Anyone NOT team green bc of neutral nursery?

We found out and I'm still not doing a gender specific nursery. Aside from the fact that the nursery is our guest room and I don't want it too babyish, we also plan to have another baby - so I want to keep as many big ticket items neutral as possible so we don't ahve to worry it's not appropriate for future children. Also, we're not doing bedding as I feel it's a waste of money anyway.

Re: Anyone NOT team green bc of neutral nursery?

I am team green but will NOT Be doing a neutral nursery. I havent seen any neutral bedding i like and i dont want yellow or mint walls.

DH will paint the room an ercu color and then a white chair rail. After baby comes, he will paint bottom part either navy or light pale pink. We will purchase a girl bedding set and boy bedding set and return the one we dont need.

Im TOTALLY ok w/ the room not being 100% ready. I would rather be team green AND have a gender specific room. To us, those were more important than a room that is ready for a baby that wont even use it right away

Yes, I was NOT team green b/c of the nursery all 3 times. Like you said, I had a million reasons to be team green but I wanted "to plan" and everything that goes along with that. So I caved all 3 times.
This time I was strong. I'm green and proud. I will get the bedding of choice AFTER the baby is born!I will soon have the surprise of my life when the baby is born. It's so exciting not knowing!!!!

If you cave and find out the gender, honestly, you won't regret it but if you really want to be surprised then just do it!!!!! Be strong!!!!!! You can buy or exchange later.

Re: Anyone NOT team green bc of neutral nursery?

I was team Chat Icon and like you, couldnt find a bedding that I liked. So we decided that , since the baby would be in a bassinet in our room for the first few weeks, that would give DH time to work on the nursery after DC was born

Before I delivered we picked out a boy bedding and a girl bedding. a week after DD was born, my MIL came over to watch DD and we ran out to get all the stuff for the nursery.

I love that I did this b/c I love her little girly room!

Thank you so much for your help! I think we're gonna paint soon and pick out bedding for a Chat Icon and Chat Icon . That definately makes sense.

I'll just have to wait to get the accessories but then it will give me something more to look forward to!

You know, that is a GREAT Idea! I've never thought of doing that before. Do you have a suggestion on how to register w/o having to register for neutral stuff lol That is my biggest gripe about waiting!

in terms of gear, you may want to go fairly neutral on things...the pink or blue overload can get to you! some of the neutrals hide stains better too. plus, if you plan to have other children you want to get use out of this expensive gear! as for bedding, many people register for both sets and end up returning one. but, you will also get many GCs and will have things to return (wrong size, etc.) so you will end up with $ to buy the set yourself.
