Before going though, I would make sure that your and DH's industries are a good fit for where you're going. (Im an accountant in financial services, dh is a banker, I knew that Charlotte would be a good fit, somewhere else probably would have been riskier.)
that's it in a nutshell. We knew where there are bankers, there are restaurants and bars. In NY, I was an admin assist to investment bankers..so that was the Charlotte appeal.

DH's job was a transfer but I had no job. I didnt start looking until we were fully down here and settled (we moved 5 months before the wedding and I was going back and forth to NY at least once a month)
It will help if you have a FL address listed on the resume. I had my NY address listed prior to the move so I would have some interviews lined up and not one phone call. The minute I put a FL address I did get calls.
I am about an hour south of Tampa. Anything you need help with please let me know

Can he try putting the FL residence on his resume? That may get him considered at more places (that may currently read NY and just throw the resume away). Also, where in FL? If it is near me, maybe I can help?
We thought of that, but if they call for an interview it would be hard for him to just hop on a plane and go down. Maybe he should do that and worry about explaining it later.
We would want to move anywhere from Port St. Lucie to Ft. Lauderdale.
Also considering St. Petersburg/Tampa.
We have family in both areas.
We are moving to Port St Lucie too and it's so hard finding a job down there while you're up here. We're thinking of just buying the house and finding it once we're there...
