Anyone taking prescription meds for morning sickness?

My daughter has been feeling sick constantly. She's nauseaus all the time and "gets sick" a couple of times a week. She went to the dr. yesterday. She's 13w5d. She told him and he gave her prescription for something called Zofran. Has anyone taken it? He told her she either take it or not. He also said she could stop taking her prenatal for a little while to see if that makes a difference, before taking the medication. Maybe the iron is upsetting her stomach. She would just take the DHA capsule. As much as she'd love to feel better, we're leary about taking any meds. She is just so drained from feeling lousy, she feels like she's just sitting aorund wasting time, not being able to function and get things done.

zofran is actually quite safe to take in all trimesters of pregancy and works fairly well. The other thing she could try is taking a b-comples (specifically B-6)and unisom together (not the benadryl type, but the one with the active ingredient doxylamine). those 2 in combination with each other are also safe. She should try to avoid stopping her prenatal in my opinion. Maybe she could try taking it right after a meal, like after dinner?

i was put on zofran because i was vomiting 5 times a day. it made a big difference. i only took 1/2 of the pill. i think the dosage is 8mg. I split the pill and took only 4mg. i don't think i would be able to function without it. also, i stopped taking prenatal. They where makign me very sick.
good luck

My colleague was on Zofran. She was pregnant with twins and had bad m/s well past the first trimester.
She said it helped immensely.

Does she take the prenatal at night? I take mine at night, so if I'm going to get nauseous from that, at least I'll be sleeping, or at least laying down. My m/s just kicked in, so I don't think it's from the prental.

I needed to take zofran for quite a while, I was 20 weeks and hadn't gained any weight bc I was unable to eat. my DS is perfectly healthy. I had to take it even more this time , my MS was even worse. I'm due in a few days but I'm sure everything is fine.

I took Zofran for my first two trimesters. I couldn't function without it the nausea was so bad. I also stopped taking my prenatals and started taking flintstone vitamins with a folic acid supplement. It wasn't a cure but helped a lot.

I was on Zofran for the last 34 weeks of my first pregnancy. My m/s never let up, and it was my savior.

I've been on it for all of this pregnancy as well.

Tell your DD she doesn't need to suffer!

I took unisom/b6 to manage my morning sickness, I was sick up until like my 24 week of pregnancy... the only side effect it made me a little drowsy Chat Icon I do not take prenatal, I only take extra folic acid...
