Anyone think they knew if their baby was right or left handed early on?
I am pretty sure DD is a lefty. At 10 mths, she user her left hand almost all the time to feed herself, etc.
I noticed this early on too, her left arm/hand was used much more often.
Is it possible she is def a leftie? DH is a leftie btw.

Same with DS actually.
But my mom and all of her cousins are lefties, then all of the cousins in DS' generation are...so we think he is for both of those reasons.

DH and I are both lefties and DS seems to use his left hand more. However, I've read that it takes a few years before you can really determine whether a child is left handed or right handed.

I knew my daughter was right handed because her left thumb was always in her mouth.
I suspected my son was left handed but was told he was a true ambidexterous by a doctor (he was 3 at the time)

I suspected my daughter was left handed very early on. Now at 20 months I'm convinced she is. When we color together she always holds her crayon in her left hand.
My mother and I are both left handed also, so this isn't really a surprise.

as soon as DS was old enough to grasp at things it was always with his riht hand, same for coloring, using utensils. Ive always known he was right handed.

I suspected DD was left handed a year ago. Now I'm almost 10000% sure she is..she colors and does everything with her left hand.
My Dad was left handed and my SIL and FIL are left handed.

DD is definately left handed - she's 18 months. She does everything with her left hand...coloring, eating, etc. If we take the fork or crayon out of her left hand and put it in her right hand to use, she just looks at it for a second and then puts it back in her left hand.

Without a doubt we knew our DD was right handed from the moment she was born. She ALWAYS favored her right side and her right hand with everything.

Re: Anyone think they knew if their baby was right or left handed early on?
When DS was that age, I really couldn't tell, he used both hands frequently. Now at 21 months though, it's pretty clear he's a right handed. Not so surprising, DH and I both are.
I think I read somewhere that it could go back and forth until your child approaches 2 years of age, and around then, generally a preference is shown.

Re: Anyone think they knew if their baby was right or left handed early on?
DD never favored a side when she was very young so we couldn't tell. Just more recently, I am seeing that she's mixed-handed like me. She favors left when eating, but uses both when coloring and favors right for throwing.
I can eat with both hands equally well, I write left and play sports with right.
