Anyone try CBD oil?

I’m so curious about this. I’m going to ask my dr what he thinks about it for chronic pain.

Has anyone tried it? If so, does it really work?

Re: Anyone try CBD oil?

Funny you ask- I've been thinking about it a lot lately too.
They sell something called Sunday Scaries- it's a CBD gummy for anxiety, etc

I often feel anxious, but not enough to go on meds.
I wonder if this would really help.
And is it safe.
And it is truly not the same thing as pot? (ie doesn't get you high)

Yea
It’s the THC in pot that gets you high. There’s none of that in there.

I know but I always wonder- so what's the catch?
Like it seems like a miracle - but is it?
Is there something bad about it?
I'm so paranoid about taking anything for the first time!

Well I figure, I’ve smoked pot and nothing bad happened (other then over eating) it’s the same stuff just with the fun part taken out lol

I’m less paranoid about that then the meds the drs try to push on me for the pain. Between anti-anxiety meds and meds used for seizures (supposedly quiets the nerve pain) so so so many side effects. I want to try something more natural first.

I agree. I hate, hate, hate taking meds. I have treated and reduced my migraines using all natural supplements and vitamins.
I guess I'm willing to try the CBD. Just need a push!
If you do try it, let me know how it works!

My FIL just got this for his 90 year old mother
She has awful arthritis
Personally I think he’s crazy to try this on a 90 year old but I will keep you posted on if it helps
I’m also a non believer in a lot of this stuff even with claims it works, maybe because I have a chronic health condition and have had zero luck with anything holistic or Accupuncture. Only the real drugs work for me lol

For example - lets pretend that smoking pot makes everything appear to move in slow motion and the room spin. And it makes people talkative and think things make sense when it doesnt.
(like how they did it in that 70s show).

If you take this, since there is no THC then that means none of those things would happen?

I've never taken any type of recreational drug so I don't know how it works.

Thanks

Correct. The CBD has no psychotropic effects. It's legal in all 50 states as long as the THC is removed.
So you can't get high off of it and you wouldn't experience the effects like you describe

ETA- i am in another group and people were talking about how they give it to their kids to help with anxiety, adhd, etc- so I can't imagine there is anything that would get you high in it if it's given to children

I just saw this and it cracked me up!
This is true
I’m seeing her this week I’ll ask if she notices any difference
She looks 70 and acts 40 besides her arthritis in her hands
On a side note she’s incredible

This is a really dumb question, but what do you do with CBD oil? Do you ingest it, rub it on you, inhale it? I am clueless. I have never even smoked pot before.

From my understanding you can ingest it and or rub it on the area needed

The ones I saw were gummies that you ingest.

I've seen the cream that you rub onto affected areas of arthritis. I hear it makes a real difference. It still smells like weed though lol

Re: Anyone try CBD oil?

A very good friend of mine took this along with her chemo and radiation treatments. She is in remission and still takes it daily.

She puts it into a gel cap and takes it like a pill. She used to put the oil directly on a little snack to get it down but found the pills easier to take (it doesn't taste good).

While it doesn't have the same affects as smoking pot since there is no THC it can have some side affects. For her she finds it does make her tired -- however she is pretty sure it isn't just the oil and is a combination of the oil and everything else she is going through. So it can be different for each person but you aren't going to get the giggles or munchies.

There are a few people that I know of (both directly and indirectly) that were not given the best prognosis and are now in remission after using the oil.

There is some very interesting articles out there about how this was discovered years ago and covered up by our government as far back as Nixon.

In the oncology world, we call that a happy coincidence. At this time, there is no evidence to support ANY claims that it cures cancer and it should never be used as a replacement for traditional treatment.

I find it intriguing for anxiety. I just did a quick google search and it looks like it's in clinical trials. I'd be interested in it if it were to be approved by the FDA. Until then, I'll stick to alcohol.

Yes I know -- I work in that world as well (not just Oncology a few different specialties). I agree that it could totally be coincidence and all of them did have traditional treatment at least one point. What really had me intrigued was the articles about the findings of it's effects many many years ago.

I hope the clinical trials find validity in any and all things it may help.

So... here's a really dumb question.

If you take, say, these gummies or whatever. I know they don't have the THC in them... but will you fail a random drug test?

Interested in looking into them for anxiety, but this is a legitimate concern. I have no idea what they "test" for in the random tests. So if I sound like a complete idiot... sorry lol.

They test for THC. So when purchasing CBD products you have to make sure you are buying from a reputable company that does third party, independent lab testing to ensure all the THC is removed. I would also stick with made in the US.
Sunday Scaries is a brand that I would look into

There is no evidence it has any effect on Autism. What are you looking to change by using homeopathy or the CBD oil? Currently, in the medica world only Risperadol Is the only known medication o have a slight effect on behaviors related to Autism. Other the. That there’s no proof charlottes web is effective. What it was effective is a seizure disorder and these claims it helps with autism are false. The person initially claiming this was diagnosed with autism and a seizure disorder which is very common and it addressed the underlying medical diagnosis, not the autism. Any reports are strictly anecdotal. I work in the field of behavior analysis and do research in autism. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out
