anyone update their bathroom by removing shower doors?
i hate the shower doors in our main bath. the bathroom itself is old but it's in decent shape and pretty neutral. we don't have the money to redo it now. when we moved in we changed the sink faucet, towel/toilet paper rods and light fixture from outdated brass to antique bronze but we never did anything with the shower doors. They are outdated and framed in brass and I hate them. I would like to just take them off and put a curtain rod for now. but i'm afraid of having DH do this and it turning out worse. He's not so handy but I feel like it can't be that hard of a job. Anyone do this?

We took ours off right away (mostly to help with bathing kids). It was very easy, but we did leave the anchors in the tile, so there were some small holes, but the curtain covers it so it didn't bother me. We eventually (4 years later) retiled the shower.

That's another reason I want to do it, DS is getting big and has to come out of infant tub soon. When you say you left the anchors do you mean the tracks? If so why? Did it look better with them on or you just didn't bother taking them off?

We took it all down too, I hated them and cleaning them was a pain! Plus, with the kids, it made more sense.
Super easy to do. The wall anchors were left, but DH just filled them temporarily with some caulk since we have no plans now to redo the tile. The tracks and everything were taken off, nothing was left. And I like to change up the bathroom by changing the curtain for a new look.

we, too, took off everything...tracks included.
The anchors are what you put into the wall so the screw can hold on (if there isn't a stud). Caulk would definitely solve that problem.

We did the same. My DH is not handy at all, and it was literally a 30 minute job - very easy!

We did it too. I wanted those suckers OFF before we moved into our new house last year.
DH did it and he's not super handy. It went pretty quickly. He had a little trouble getting the tracks on the bottom off but ended up just kicking and kicking them until they fell into the tub.
The best part about it: we put the doors, frame, tracks, everything out with the rest of the garbage the next day and the garbage truck picked it up! We thought they'd be sitting in our living room forever until we could arrange "special pickup."
