Anyone w/PCOS NOT taking drugs?
Is there anyone here with PCOS who is trying to conceive naturally without drugs?
Did the RE try to give you drugs and you refused or did they say to try without the drugs first?

Re: Anyone w/PCOS NOT taking drugs?
I wanted drugs I considered doing everything naturally but decided I didnt have the luxury of time to wait and see if it worked. Even my acupuncturist told me that iin her experience, natural methods work best in conjunction with western methods. I made that decision on my own. The decision might depend on your age (fertility).
The RE will (or should) work with you in whatever you are comfortable with doing. They shouldnt force you to take meds but will probably recommend it.

Please let me know! Is this your first time with the RE? I'm thinking of making an appointment soon, but I feel overwhelmed and nervous about it. I just feel I need some information before feeling safe to TTC.

Re: Anyone w/PCOS NOT taking drugs?
i tried a few months on my own but was not ovulating on my own so it was pointless to keep trying. I needed the meds to induce ovulation.
my sister's friend has PCOS and got pregnant on her own without any meds. Everyone is different!

I felt so much better after a few appointments with the RE. Granted, I still dont totally understand what is going on with my body but I don't feel as anxious of the unknown. At least today

Re: Anyone w/PCOS NOT taking drugs?
Do u mean drugs for the PCOS or drugs for when u begin to try with the RE
What I mean is..they wil prob put u on metformin for the PCOS...when it comes to doing a medicated cycle it all depends if u. Do not ovulate on ur own or have issues with ovulation...plenty of people do non medicated iui or just timed. Intercourse...we were not that lucky and I know have my own pharmacy in my house
Best of luck

Re: Anyone w/PCOS NOT taking drugs?
My doc told me to try naturally for 3 months. If nothing happens, then start medication (clomid). I will be 35.

Aside form metformin for the insulin resistence I'm not using any meds. Just vitamins and supplements, vitex primarily, which is supposed to help get you to ovulate regularly.

Re: Anyone w/PCOS NOT taking drugs?
i tried no meds for 6 months. i only ovulated twice and both very late in the cycle (post CD30). it was a waste of time for me to go without meds cause ovulation was never predictable or consistent. as soon as my ob/gyn gave me clomid i switched to an RE and did medicated cycles after that.
if you ovulate regularly and consistenly with PCOS then theres no immediate reason to go on meds. however if you don't then it makes it very hard to really TRY to conceive. for me it was WEEKS of BDing consistently with no temp shifts and no ovulation. by the time ovulation really did happen we were so worn and eggs were poorer quality that we never got lucky that way.
