Anyone who has taken Amtrak - Question for you...
I have to take a trip this week and have luggage with me (just a small rolling suitcase). I noticed something on their website about checking in luggage on their website, but I assumed that I could just bring it and store it above. Is it just like riding in a plane when it comes to luggage - smaller luggage goes above you and larger luggage has to be checked??

I have used Amtrak from Boston to NYC and had a weekend bag and didnt check it. Never had a problem stowing it at my seat.

never had a problem storing everything at my seat.
eta: I take that back - ONE time we weren't able to keep our bags. I rode Amtrak from Albany to NY on 9/27/01. Baggage was kept in a separate car in the back of the train with 2 empty cars separating passengers and cargo.
