Question for those whose DC takes or has taken Zantac even if only briefly...
How long did it take for you to see a difference? My DS has been taking it now 1ml 3X/day for four days and so far I don't notice a noticeable positive difference.
Also, did anyone notice their DC being more fussy during feeding as a side effect of the zantac? DS has been spitting up during nursing and sometimes not wanting to eat and this is very unusual for him.
TIA

within about 2 days. He still spit up a whole lot, but he stopped being as fussy during feedings, which were getting soooo hard.

Within a few days. Not sure about the fussy part, I don't think I noticed a difference.

Do you give your DC the zantac b/f or after feedings? Thanks again

Thanks ladies. Just finishing day 5 and still don't see a major difference - not sure if the minor difference is attritutable to the zantac or just having a better day. Plus, that fussiness is still there one feeding a day at least which he did not do before. Will prob try for another day or two and then call the dr.
Did anyone find Zantac did not work for their DC's reflux? or didn't work that great?

I was told by our pedi and our GI specialist that most ppl don't see results for up to two weeks. It took DD at least a week and half, almost 2 weeks to see results. Don't give up yet. ETA: The fussiness might be from a milk allergy? Just a thought.

DD had this exact problem....fussier, spitting up, crying during feedings occasionally. She was only on it 3 days, then developed a rash all over her chest and stomach. We took her off and she was back to her normal self.

Re: Question for those whose DC takes or has taken Zantac even if only briefly...
my DD takes a 1/4 tablet of prevacid in the a.m. and now is up to 1.5ml of zantac in the afternoon and evening. The zantac has not helped with the spitting up but i think it eases her fussiness. However, she's almost 3 1/2 months and is scheduled to return to Gastro doc in a couple of weeks and I'm pretty sure the medicine will be changed. in fact, i'm going to insist on it because she's gotten worse over the past few days. I think its because as they grow/gain weight the dosage needs to be adjusted. Its hard and i still torture myself with worry because i had giving her medicine but she was not gaining weight and miserable without it (so were we).
