anyone with preteen girls in their lives, question
any ideas on what to do/give a girl that just got her first period?? I cant remember that far back?
I saw a few cute "girl" books on amazon.
i thought maybe a cute pouch/small bag to carry her products 
new undergarments.
a journal ?
any specific ideas ? ask your daughters/nieces please

my mom just opened my door and said "need these" tossed a package of pads at me and closed the door.
I think the ideas you have are cute! Also how about a prescription to teen magazine?

There is a book from American Girl....my daughter has it. Real Advice for Real Girls and the Care and Keeping of You. Both are excellent books for girls at that age. Barnes and Noble should have them or Amazon.

I was barely 11 and didn't know what was happening to me. I was in denial for about three days (kept changing my underwear; thought I had the runs LOL). After the third day, I freaked out and told my Mom. My sister/Mom brought me home Roy Rogers and a movie from the video store, as I was "resting" from my experience LOL!!
A book sounds wonderful and who doesn't love a new bag

i would've been mortified if someone gave me a gift! i remember my aunt saying something to me about 'finally being a woman' and i wanted to crawl into a hole.
i think when you're older you can deal with it a little better 
however, its really sweet of you to think of her like that!

I'm pretty sure my mom celebrated this momentous occasion by driving me to the drugstore and sending me inside to buy some feminine products. 
I think she also had a brief conversation with me about becoming a woman, blah, blah, blah.

I've never heard of it, but it sounds awesome. Next time someone tells me they got their period, I'm slapping them across the face. I don't care if it's their first period or not!

Definitely a Jewish tradition -- my aunt did the same thing to my cousin. I was always thankful my mom didn't do it to me. I didn't question.

i got my period in december i was 12 yrs old, it had snowed and my sisters (both older) and girl cousins were outside having a snowball fight. My cousin told me i couldnt go out and play with my period bc it would freeze and i would die
My poor mother tried to tell me it wasnt true LOLOL she felt so bad!
