Just wondering if anyone thinks there will be layoffs in the future. I am currently teaching in NC and wonder if it would be too risky to leave the city and come to LI

I would be worried to leave. they just said that the state wants to cut 1.4 billion in education funding. I would not want to be low man on the totem poll anywhere!!

why specifically VS central? Honestly, that wouldnt be my top pick. But whether or not they are doing layoffs, no one is really hiring right now. So I wouldnt worry about being laid off but about not getting a job

FYI: NYC may be doing layoffs too. We are not safe either.

FYI: NYC may be doing layoffs too. We are not safe either.
I know NYC might be laying off too, but if you have senority, then you don't have to worry as much. If you are a new hire and in a smaller district (compared to NYC) there is a greater chance that you can be one of the the first ones cut.
