i feel like i'm the only one going through this hell.

Re: anyones dc every have feeding issues (real food)
Johnny my oldest 4 1/2 used to eat everything and anything. Now he's a pain the the butt with his veggies. He also complains if there is seasoning on his food or sauce. He hates when he sees a little speck of something like baisle in his food. My 2 1/2 year old Bobby stills eats everything thank God. Hopefully its just all a phase with Johnny...
Good Luck

DD is only 11 months, but she's starting to refuse most baby food...but she isn't eating enough regular food to get full...and some stuff I try, she just flat out refuses!!

Re: anyones dc every have feeding issues (real food)
DD seems to be taking after Mommy about being picky about certain foods. She will eat pasta, pizza, cut up chicken, etc.... but seems to really dislike any "wet foods" - like cut up fruit and veggies. Mommy really hates seafood because of the wet feel so DD might be dealing with that too.
She also shoves EVERYTHING into the back of her throat to gag on it

Re: anyones dc ever have feeding issues (real food)
I will tell you what my ped JUST told me -
Kids will eat when they are hungry do not press the issue as long as he is eating something each day, it is fine
My dd has become very picky but she will still eat fruit, PB &J, chicken nuggets etc
but once she starts to say "down" over and over, I take her out of the high chair and that is it

I *think* the OP means feeding issues such as gagging, etc. Oral issues, not necessarily "picky eating" issues.

Re: anyones dc ever have feeding issues (real food)
You mean feeding issues like ones in which you work with a specialist? Not just a picky eater, right?

Re: anyones dc ever have feeding issues (real food)
if you're talking about eating issues then yes, my DS had a gagging reflex thing going on. Still does (he gagged on oatmeal today and he's 3 1/2).
At one point I was having him evaluated for "speech" issues and asked the woman to check for eating problems (chewing/swallowing) but she said he looked fine.
If you're talking about being picky, then that's a yes too. It's very frustrating. I'm hoping that it's something he'll outgrow eventually. Otherwise, he'll be eating chicken nuggets, hot dogs, peanut butter on rice cakes and fries on his wedding day...

Re: anyones dc ever have feeding issues (real food)
The gagging can also be caused by enlarged tonsils. A co-worker of mine has a child that had that problem up until she had them removed last year at age 5. Just something to think about.
