Anyone's DC have/had a clogged tear duct?

Was it also infected? And how long did it take for it to go away? Was the eye extremely teary or just a little? My DD is seven weeks old (almost) and it is still infected and tears and gooks up like crazy. TIA!

Also, did you have to put erythromycin in it to clear up the infection and if so, how long did you put it in for?

Mine did until he was 12 weeks old, it was gross. He went through 2 doses of antibiotics and nothing. At 12 weeks to the day it dissapeared.

My friend has taken her daughter to a cranial osteopath and he gave her a head massage and it cleared her tear ducts up in about 2 days. It might be worth a try!!!

Both of kids had it from birth (really teary and infected) and using the erythromycin was the best. I would put the ointment on their eye at naptime and bedtime (I felt it was a waste putting on when they were awake because they would wipe their eye with their hand.) It usually cleared up right away. Are you also doing warm compresses on the eye? that helps alot too.

Good luck!

I just used a warm clothe per the Drs orders and it took like a week to clear up.

I use warm cotton balls to wipe away the gook and massage the tear duct...but she hates it so I dont think she would let me hold a warm compress on it for too long. I try to do it while Im breastfeeding because she doesnt mind it as much then. Ill give it a try.
This is her second round of erithromycin and its been a week and its still very gooky and extra teary.
