Appetizers Party
We're having a gender reveal party and we want to do appetizers only...I was thinking of doing 6 appetizers total (with a bunch of each kind)...I was thinking of bite sized lasagna roll-ups, caprese skewers...I would love for everything to be a bite sized app that could be easily eaten. I need ideas! Help!

Re: Appetizers Party
I'm totally lazy so I just go to Trader Joe's and pick up whatever looks good.
You also cannot go wrong with any of their cheeses/dips/hummus/guac products.
They also have a delicious fig spread.

Re: Appetizers Party
I love to do a caramelized onion and goat cheese tart (or you can even put it in those little phyllo cups. Delish!
I once had these delicious crescent rolls that were wrapped with ham, cheese and an asparagus spear.
mini tacos or individual cups of layered dip with a few chips in each cup
A crockpot of sweet and sour meatballs or kielbasa
Maybe little buffalo chicken or pulled pork sliders as a little more hearty app
I love apps!!!

Re: Appetizers Party
Oooh...I love the mini taco idea...maybe I could do something with shredded pork and a vinegar cole slaw in a friend wonton wrapper...I'm also thinking of adding some kind of mini meatball...I feel like I need something veggie-ish...any ideas?? I really would rather do something on a skewer vs. something that people need to hang out next to like veggies and dip...

You could do tostitos scoops with different fillings. I've had them with pulled pork, brie and jam, and of course you could do a taco one.
For veggies, you can do phyllo cups and fill with roasted veggies. I love filling them with roasted asparagus and feta with fresh lemon juice. You can serve them room temp which makes it easy.

Re: Appetizers Party
I would just try to make sure that you have a variety of hot and cold, meat v. veggie... if you do a few cold display items, it will be easier on you, too and you won't be slaving away at the oven all night.
Also, maybe try to do things you can make in advance (even freeze) if you are going to do more homemade items than store bought...I've frozen cheese puffs and baked empanadas (made with either homemade or store bought dough) and they've come out well (you can bake right from the freezer.
So here are some ideas - -
Cold items:
Meat and cheese board with olives, dried fruit, crackers, etc.
Shrimp cocktail or some sort of cold shrimp display
Spinach dip (or some other cold dip) in a bread bowl with bread cubes/veggies
Cold marinated tortellini on skewers
Fruit kabobs
Hot ideas (meat)
Sweet and sour mini meatballs in the crockpot
Chicken wings or chicken fingers with dipping sauces
pigs in blankets
Stromboli
Stuffed mushrooms with sausage
Baked Empanadas
Bacon wrapped chicken cubes or scallops
Hot ideas (non meat)
Stuffed mushrooms with non meat filling
Little baked bries (phyllo cups filled with jam, brie, and a pecan half... baked at 425 for 5-8 minutes)
Mini veggie quiches
Cheese puffs
Trader Joe's flatbreads (you can cut into squares) - tomato basil and mozzarella, mushroom and 4 cheese, etc.
Potato pancakes or mini twice baked potatoes
Another idea would just be to choose a theme - - e.g., Italian, Mexican, etc. -- and build your apps around that.
