Applying for jobs online?

There is a company that I would like to work for and they have 10 accounting jobs open at their corporate headquarters. The jobs are in about 7 different departments and I am qualified for all of them. Some a little too qualified for since the minimum is 5 years expersience and I have 11. Do I apply to all of them? Is that strange to submit my resume 10 times at the same company for 10 different jobs? Do I change the cover letter each time?

Re: Applying for jobs online?

In the past when I've applied to jobs at agencies where I know I am qualified for many positions, I always write in my cover letter that I am interested in setting up an interview to discuss any positions within the company that I may be qualified for.

At least that gives you a good in, because 9 times out of 10 you get someone first reviewing your resume that has no clue what exactly you are/are not qualified for within the company.

I've done something similar but I'd offer 2 suggestions:

1 - most applications are online so I'd apply for each modifying your cover letter slightly to reflect the job and the desire to work at this company, hope to have an opp to speak, etc.

2 - leverage LinkedIn and see who you know that works there or knows someone who works there and have them get you in for an exploratory interview. If that's not successful then tap a employee blindly who is in the department you're looking to work in and introduce yourself asking if they'd be willing to speak. This person will be able to get your resume in front of the right person or direct you on who to call for the best shot.

Hope that helps!
