Re: appropriate or not -- eating chips in a shared office
funny this is posted tonight because i just got home from class and this guy next to me is trying to open is bag of chips quietly you know when they pull it apart verrrry slowly so they dont disturb the class?
COMMON open it already the opening it slowly is equally annoying. but this is the kicker.. you try to open the bag quietly, finally its open and then you proceed to CHOMP on your chips? HELLLO? you were so concerned with the noise of the bag but ignore the noise coming from your mouth! crunch! chomp! crunch! NASTY!
then he licked his fingers.. one by one.. totally skeeved out by that.. so i know what you mean. please chomp in private. or learn how to chew.

I'd rather hear chips than listen to a coworker plan her wedding so loudly that everyone in the department can hear...

It wouldn't bother me, but I'm pretty oblivious to those things.

It wouldn't bother me. It's only a small bag of chips. I think people are way too sensitive about certain things.
If it was really smelly food that's a different story because the smell would linger for long after it was eaten.

Chips wouldn't bother me. Bananas on the other hand...! I don't think there is a worse sound than listening to someone eat a banana.

Re: appropriate or not -- eating chips in a shared office
Thank you for posting! I thought I was the only one on Hearth who felt this way.
I cannot stand anyone making noise while eating. It's like nails on a blackboard. I actually have to leave the room.
I could tolerate a small bag of chips if I know they are closing their mouth. If I can hear them chewing with their mouth open, I lose it. I can't stand open mouth, open display of chewing process, speaking while eating, clicking sound, etc.. If I see a person makes a special effort to be quiet while eating chips, apple and close their mouth, I am "OK" with it.
Imagine me at the movie theater. I can't stand people and those with wrappings.
A former co-worker once was chewing on a chocolate caramel candy with her mouth open and came by me to show me something on my computer. Like talking and being 8 inches from my hear. I actually told her to finish what she had in her mouth and come back.
