Apron when cooking?

Just wondering if anyone wears an apron when cooking.

I had these grand ideas that DS would see me cooking in my apron and it would bring up all these wonderful memories when he gets older but not sure if there is a magic apron.

MIL bought personalized ones for me and DH one holiday. They're in the back of the linen closet. As soon as I read the subject of your post though I got warm and fuzzy because it reminded me of holidays at my grandparents' house and she used to cook wearing the apron! Chat Icon

Re: Apron when cooking?

I just recently started wearing one - I'm generally a messy cook and I was sick of ruining clothes.

I now wear one most of the time, especially when preparing big meals. I can't tell you how many shirts I've ruined not wearing one over the years. My brother bought them for me at Williams-Sonoma, so they are not the ones grandma used to wear, lol!

I always mean to when I'm making something messy or really want to keep my clothes clean but I often forget. I also like wearing it when I'm washing dishes since I get my shirt wet.

Same here. And I have one, I always just forget. When I finish my baking/chocolate making for tonight I'm going to try to remember to put my apron on. Chat Icon

ETA: I forgot again. Chat Icon

Re: Apron when cooking?

I have a couple -- one my my gave me a few years back and one she made for my bridal shower. I wear them most of the time when I bake, cooking typically only if company is over, not typical dinners.

Re: Apron when cooking?

I do. Almost all of the time. I usually have some appointments in the evening so I don't want to change from work clothes. And I don't want to go on an appointment with spatters all over me...Chat Icon
