architect recommendations, I think we'll be firing ours!

has anyone had to fire their architect? we have the WORST architect ever, he has been dragging his feet the whole time and he never gets back to us. Our application with the DOB was rejected b/c the drawing was deemed too large, but he had claimed he was drawing it within the correct zoning & sizing requirements. He won't get back to us so I don't even know what he's doing about it. He had emailed 2 months ago to say he was researching what they said on sizing b/c he thought he could challenge their ruling, but I"m TIRED of waiting I don't even care if we have to downsize the proposed extension (our dormered 2nd floor), I just want to get a move on already!!!

My question is, if you fire your architect what are the ramifications with the DOB? Does it matter if Architect ABC filed it originally and Architect XYZ picks up where the 1st one left off? Do I need to refile all over again? So far we've only paid the first architect roughly 30% (he was one of the cheaper ones we met with gratefully....but I guess you get what you pay for!!). I'm willing to kiss that money goodbye if we can get someone who's more on the ball. Looking for any advice or architect recommendations. This has been going on a LONG time, we started this process LAST JUNE. He said he'd file by October, and he didn't file until February!! thanks for reading all this, I'm so frustrated that we always seem to hire the worst vendors Chat Icon

I was going to recommend Ed Hoschler at Hoschler/Graziosi (www.hoschlergraziosi.com) in Oyster Bay.

But, since we have a vendor here who is an architect, I'll defer.
