Are Gliders Very necessary to Breast Feed?

I am starting to think it might be a necessity rather than a luxery and that I should get one.

What are you ladies doing?

Thanks
Jen

I'm sure new moms can survive without one, but I'm also sure it makes things easier.

I registered for one and if we don't get it, we'll buy it for ourselves.

Only a breast & a baby are necessary. There are certain things that make it a lot easier. Gliders are great not only for breastfeeding but when you're putting the baby to sleep (ottoman is a huge plus). A boppy is also helpful.

You can use a regular chair but Gliders are extremely comfortable for an exhausted mom in the middle of the night that's tired of rocking.

Not a necessity. I do have one now, but was in the process of moving when DD was born and so I didn't even have it for at least 6 weeks--didn't miss it either. You know something, when we had it delivered, it went upstairs into our bedroom and I don't think I ever used it to BF.

Having said that, I will probably bring it downstairs now for May--I paid enough for it!!

Absolutely not a necessity. I have one and I never used it to BF my DS you kind of just do it where ever you may be in the house. I doubt I'll use it too much more for this new baby either.

Gliders are SO not necessary!!! I have one collecting dust in my guest room. I had it for Emma. It was nice but it was also much more convenient to just hang out wherever I was and pop a boob out. Gliders and a Boppy go hand in hand for me.

I don't think they are necessary, but are nice to have. I will say though, if you get one, get the ottoman as well. It makes it that much nicer.

Gliders are def NOT necessary for BF"ing, nice to have if you have room and $$$ for them.

I BF DD with just a boppy pillow and a comfy couch or bed. We were very comfy.

I actually had a harder time BF in the glider. It was easier on the couch where I wasnt so confined. I did and still use the glider everynight to put him to bed though (he always got bottles at night). The reason it didnt work for me is because the armrests seemed to be higher than what I needed them to be.

Re: Are Gliders Very necessary to Breast Feed?

I registered for one on the advice of the BTDT moms tha I know. It is helpful for feeding & sleeping & even burping. I registered for a covered glider as opposed to an exposed frame one or a rocker b/c once the baby starts crawling around that mechanism scares me a little. I loved the ones I saw at BRU - they were very reasonably prices & very smooth.

I also registered for the boppy & the ottoman.

I never used mine once to breastfeed. I found it more comfortable on the couch with a boppy type pillow.

I think that they are nice, but not an absolute must. We simply don't have the room for a glider. I wish I did, but I'm sure our son will be fine with just me and my boob.

My glider was too narrow to BF comfortably. I am thinking if the one I had was wider it would have been better. I found the couch more comfy too. I want to splurge and get a wider more comfy one next time.

My mom never had one with us...and we were all breastfed. I personally don't like them so I'll stick with my rocking chair.

Absolutely not! I never had one and BF my son exclusively for 13.5 months. None of my friends had one either.
