Are my babies the only ones who hate to eat? (solids)
We started the cereal process and then moved to applesauce and THEY CANT STAND IT!
I mean they scream and cough, gag, and it takes me 20min to get a tablespoon amt of food in them.
I dont remember this at all with DD. I thought after a few days, they just like it??

we still do the same thing with Andrew at six months!!! But I have noticed that if I feed him a half hour early it's not so bad!!! PS Teddy was never like this!!!!!!!!!

Yes, my DS is a bad eater still at almost 18 months. He gagged a lot so I started baby food later. Then he gagged if the baby food was too thick or he didn't like it

Are they not ready? I just fed Luke cereal this weekend for the first time and this morning the day care told me they're shocked at how he took to it.. but the boy really wants a steak so I'm not surprised.
But the other little boy in my day care just a few weeks older fought solids for a bit, I think because he wasn't ready yet. Now he eats like a champ... I think he's exactly a month older than your boys.

Nope, not the only ones! We started at 4 months trying to feed DD, and just within this last week at 6 months old, she has finally been letting me put food in her mouth.
DS was the same way, hated baby food until around 6 months.

jack was the same way. he would make a "eggghhh" sound and then gag - and then puke .... everywhere 
after about 2 weeks of struggling with cereal, we moved on to stage 1 fruits and veggies and never looked back. he just wasnt into cereal, rice or oatmeal.
we stuck with stage 1 for 2-3 weeks and then moved on to stage 2  he id doing great - some days better than others but eats most!
sometimes we still get a gag here or there but he is keeping it down  thank god 
ETA - maybe they arent ready? we tried around 4 months and it wasnt happening, especially since he was healing from the milk allergy. at just before 6 months, he was much better. still took time!

I would hold off for a while. It sounds like they are not ready They don't "need" it right now. You would be just fine if you tried again at 6 mos

"they" say to start between 4 and 6 months. I would have waited another month but Luke has been known to take 12 ounces at a time..  boy is HUNGRY 
But several of my friends waited and their kiddos did just fine!

yup jack was 16+ lbs at 4 months and we waited. he was taking 32+ oz per day and we waited. now at 6 months, he is finally ready, sorta

debbie, at 4 months, not all babies have lost the tongue thrust reflex. they might be rejecting the cereal as a reflex, not so much that they dont like the taste - their mouths just dont know what to do with it. if they cant swollow it, no point in trying. most babies loose the reflex by 4-6 months hence the timeline

No, that's not true. They need to lose the tongue thrust reflex to know how to eat. Some babies can eat at 4 months, others not until 6 months or later. If they are not starving, as in eating way more ounces of formula than they should, then skip the cereal and wait until they are older.

Derek was really into solids until 5, almost 6 months where TJ started at 4 mo.

Noah hated solids, the girls loved them. Try something else...applesauce can actually be a little bitter. Try sweet potatoes maybe?
