Are there any other gas pain reliever medications besides Mylicon and Gripe Water?
My little guy winces in pain - even out of a deep sleep. He toots like crazy during his cries of pain - but something is hurting him so bad. His whole body tenses up and his face turns bright red with his eyebrows tensing up.
We do the mylicon. We do the Little Tummy's. We've tried colic calm, but I'm losing faith in it. I still have to get the colic ease to try, but I almost feel like they're all the same anyway.
Is there prescription medication to help with gas pains?
Also - lately, when he burps (big, grown up guy burps), I get the cottage cheese stuff out of his mouth. Is that "normal" or could that indicate "reflux"?
Thanks!

Re: Are there any other gas pain reliever medications besides Mylicon and Gripe Water?
My DD is a little older than your boy but she's starting to get really gassy again for some reason. We've also tried mylicon and gripe water and I don't feel like they are helping. My Ped GI told us to get colic ease....and I think that's what I'm going to try next.
So, the cottage cheese spit up that comes out with burp is definitely a big sign of reflux! My DD get those too! She's been on pepcid for her acid reflux for the past month.

It sounds like reflux. My little dude did the same with his burps and he has reflux. Did you try the flora baby?

No - not because I didn't take your advice, but because he's now taking Nutramagin, which has the probiotic in it. I even called my doctor to see if I could still add Flora Baby to the Nutramagin and he said no since it already has the same type of thing in it.

My boy is on maalax to help the reflux (as per a GI) but has an added bonus of helping with gas. I saw a major difference in the gas as soon as we started maalax. Those gas drops did nothing for him.
I wouldn't take maalax without consulting with your doctor first though.

Great to know! Thanks! I'll call my doc Monday. I can't take seeing him in this pain.
Do u mean just regular adult maaloxx? Does your boy like the taste? Do u get flavored?

I don;t wnat to belabor this point, but if your son is still in distress and is on Nutramigen he probably need s amino acid formula. I did not find out my son was dairy allergic until 9 weeks an dit was he!!. See if your Dr can get you Nitramigen AA-they should be able to get you some free samples. My son just grew out of his allergy around 2.5 yrs old. Elecare is the same..

It's just the regular adult maalax and it's mint flavored. He's fine with the taste. My pedi didn't recommend or suggest it but the gastro dr did. Ive heard of people using mylanta also. Good luck
