Re: Are there any tall girls...

It's not that I don't like being tall, I just don't like being tall all the time.

it's a PITA to find pants long enough (this you know much better than me);

its REALLY ANNOYING to go to a bar with a bunch of friends who are all 5'3" in their heels and try to socialize when I'm standing at least 6 inches over their heads so I can't hear a damn thing they say (maybe I should be more concerned with my hearing impairment than my height...but that would be too rational).

It was not something that I embraced until now - it was always something that made me different - in a freak kind of way instead of an individual kind of way and I think that's why I've always wanted to change it. When I dated guys shorter than me - one in particular - wouldn't leave the house with me unless I was in flats (that relationship didn't last long).. I guess I just received more negative reinforcement than positive.

Honestly, I've always envied your confidence about your height (chatham-chick).

Re: Are there any tall girls...

I was one of the tall girls that posted in the earlier thread.

I actually don't mind being tall at all. I just wish sometimes that I were a little shorter. Mostly to stop the coments that I consistently get from people.

It doesn't help that the other day while I was at work a co-worker made a completely rude comment to me. I was wearing a nice pair of pants, a cute top and a pair of heels. She looks me up and down, grunts and then says "ugh - people like you just shouldn't wear heels" At first I was really p.o.'d, but then, aster I thought about it, I realized that she is probably just jealous of my height (she's approximately 4'11).

Another one of my co-workers says to me on an almost daily basis, "Wow - you're looking really tall today". I fee like saying to her "No friggin $h!t."

I like my height and I think I carry it well. I'm slender and I can wear almost anything (if I can find it in a tall length). It's taken me 28 years to grow into myself and I think I am finally happy.

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of days that I wish I was a few inches shorter, like I had said earlier, but for the most part, I enjoy my height.

Re: Are there any tall girls...

I am about 5'7"-5 '8" and growing up I hated being the tallest of my friends-
and I always thought clothes looked better on shorter girls.
It took me a while to appreciate being tall...and being married to my DH who's 6'2" I can wear very high heels and still feel feminine next to him...I love it now!

I was 5'10" and always wondered what it would be like to be shorter but I was always glad that I was (except when I was dating and every guy was shorter). Now I had back surgery and shrunk to 5'9 1/2" and I want my 1/2 inch back!

I'm 5'8 and I don't really like being tall. I don't mind it but I feel like a amazon woman sometimes at work with all the very short men that work with me.

I'm a bit over 5 '9 and I like it. Especially now with "long" pant styles finally being made.

I'm not tall, but I just wanted to say how stupid it is that women's pants don't come in different inseams sizes like men's pants do. I'm on the shorter side, with particularly short legs & it is just as frustrating.
( although, worse for you ladies, b/c you can't have them hemmed)

Re: Are there any tall girls...

I'm about 5'8" and hated being tall when I was a kid, especially at "picture time" in grammar school. Pics were taken in the gym and we went in size order. Of course the taller kids were in the back and had to kneel on the stage!!! Chat Icon sometimes I think that's why I have bad knees today. Chat Icon

Re: Are there any tall girls...

I am 5'8" tall and sometimes I do have trouble finding jeans that fit legnth wise ( so do some of my shorter friends)

SOmetimes when I wear high heels I feel like I am towering over everyoneChat Icon

When we used to go out, there where nights where I felt like the tallest person is the club-

A really good thing about being tall is the fact that when I gain a weight it doesn't look too bad because I am tall and it is not as noticeable.
Although, I would rather not gain weightChat Icon

I remember in grammar school as well having to line up and always being in the back of the line because it was size order

ETS- being tall is not as much an issue for me as it was in my youth, I try to embrace it more now.
