Are there countertops that are in between laminate and granite?
They are such extremes in terms of prices! Any suggestions?

we just recently got zodiac quartz countertops - I am not sure how they compare in price but I am really happy with them (I just posted my after pics in my kitchen 2 minutes ago if you want to see them).

The ones that I have researched are granite, corian, silestone, zodiac, and lexton.

we are actually doing our countertops with granite tile. Instead of paying thousands for a slab custom made, we paid $350 for the tiles.
we haven't installed it yet, but here's a picture of what it will look like.

this is interesting, I have never seen it like that, but it is a nice alternative- how much for the installation? Where did you get this from? Did you buy the tiles yourself or did you get them from the people doing the installing?
thanks!

We are going to be installing them ourselves, so I am not sure how much it would be to have someone do it for you. I am sure anyone who does tile work would be able to do this for you.
We got the tiles from Home Depot- the style we bought (which looks like the one in the pic) was $3.99/sf. We had to order it - it took about a week to come in.

you can also try this - they are tiles precut to your layout . It give you more of the slab look. More expensive than the tiles, but cheaper than the slab. Bennissimo Systems

We have silestone (quartz) but if I'm not mistaken its pretty close to the cost of granite.
There's also Corian and Laminate which is cheaper.

Yeah, Consumers has a bunch of options for "solid surface" countertops (Corian, Silestone, etc.)

We have silestone in our bathroom which looks just like the granite we have in the kitchen
