are there natural gas alternatives to KeySpan?
Long story short, I'm tired of the HORRIBLE customer service at Keyspan... and we only currently use it for cooking.
Our new home has gas heat, a gas dryer, and a gas stove. Do I have any other alternatives? With all the times they have screwed up, I am wary to use them (unless I have to) for much larger gas service.
ETA - converting the service is not an option. (It's a townhouse / condo...)

I don't think so. I think there may be other companies Keyspan teams up with that you can purchase the gas through at a cheaper rate, but Keyspan is the local servicer. I vaguely remember getting an insert in a bill a while back.

Yeah, I figured as much, but thought it was worth asking.
On a related note, one of our new neighbors says he does what you describe and saves quite a bit.

I wonder how this is done? Through Keyspan?

I really don't remember, but the info came from Keyspan so I would imagine so. It's terrible, I really should follow up. One more thing for the to do list.....

Check your bill this month... I think something came with mine... I'll check later on tonight when I get home.

You can get propane if you only use the gas for cooking.
I saw that thing at the bottom of the bill too. Does it really save a lot of money?

Ok. I looked into it. There are 2 other companies that you can purchase gas from but Keyspan is the only company that can deliver it.
Here is the website on the 2 other companies: Save On Energy

If you switch to one of these, who comes to your house if there is a gas leak or whatever?
