are we never allowed to have tuna?
or is it a "sometimes" food? I thought I heard that once a week or less is ok.

Its one of those "sometimes" foods...along with feta cheese and coldcuts.

Re: are we never allowed to have tuna?
I heard once a week from my doctor, and the chunk light is best. Albacore should be avoided.

Re: are we never allowed to have tuna?
At my 16 week appt I asked my doctor to PLEASE let me have tuna. I told him I had been craving a tuna sub and would kill for it. He asked when I last had it. I said 'October'. He stopped what he was doing and started laughing. He said 'you really get nervous about those moderation foods, huh?' Right after the appt I went and got a tuna sub. Now, at 23 weeks I am ready for my next one!

Re: are we never allowed to have tuna?
Pregnant or not we arent suppose to eat Tuna all the time b/c of the Mercury levels...certain fish have more mercury than others...
I basically eat it when I have a craving for it...tuna melt on an english muffin=yummy...but I know that Im not even eating a can a week...
Chunk Light Chunk White Solid White
all have different mercury levels.

Re: are we never allowed to have tuna?
Thanks people. I went and had what I was craving--the lowfat honey mustard tuna on a bagel from Bagel Boss. And if lowfat or honey mustard are a problem, it's too late now. Honestly, it was good but not as awesome as I was remembering. I may get sick from the side salad of macaroni, b/c richer foods w/ sauces have been making me HURL!!!!!!!

Re: are we never allowed to have tuna?
I just finished my tuna sandwich!! Moderation is the key for tuna fish (canned). I try to limit 1 can a week or every other week.

Re: are we never allowed to have tuna?
Most everything in moderation is fine....fish is actually good for you when pregnant...not everyday, but once in awhile. I probably have tuna twice a month.

Re: are we never allowed to have tuna?
According to my doctor, tuna is okay to eat. Personally, I can't stand the smell of anything fish-related so I've not touched it.

Re: are we never allowed to have tuna?
I don't know what my dr. would say but I have been craving all those rich salads like egg, chicken, tuna, macaroni, potato, but the homemade stuff with allot of celery and mayo(the real stuff) guess I'm going to have to add it to my no-no's list... don't eat it that often but just reading about it made my tummy jump!
