Re: Are you a confrontational person?

I think I am, much more so in the past, but I'm trying to change that. By not always taking the bait, and choosing my battles. Let the small stuff roll off me and look at whether it really matters or will make any difference in the larger scheme of things.

I will stick up for myself if I feel I'm being taken advantage of or insulted - which isn't to be confused with seeking confrontation. At work especially, I fight for what is rightfully mine if the situation arises. I know my value and will not put up with employers who try to put one over on me. I don't f*ck around when it comes to my money.

That might get me a reputation as a PITA but I'd rather be that than out money or benefits because I was afraid to speak up.

Re: Are you a confrontational person?

Here's the deal. I can be emotional and I can get irrational when I am emotional. I know this about myself - so I tend to take time and distance myself from most situations before I decide whether it is worth 'confrontation'. After a few drinks, a few rants to random friends and a long bath, I find that the issue is so small and minor in the grand scheme of life that it isn't worth a mention.

There are very few things that set my hackles up and make me think "I MUST address this issue ASAP".

I guess that makes me non-confrontational. But don't mistake my ability to detach myself from a situation as weakness or apathy - because it certainly isn't that!Chat Icon

There are ways to handle yourself, though. When someone starts up with me, I often find that by being quiet and letting them speak, I have that person show the world how obnoxious/ignorant/callous they are. Like letting them dig their own hole. Chat Icon

Re: Are you a confrontational person?

Before I had DD I would pick a fight with anyone anywhere over anything. I had a very short fuse and an explosive temper.

Now I have to say my fuse has gotten longer, but the temper is still fierceChat Icon

Certain things will still immediately set me off. It usually has something to do with someone messing with my DD, nephews, family or friends. Or when someone parks in front of my driveway, which is a daily occurance.

I am so not confrontational..I will do all in my power to avoid it..but when pushed to a limit I can push back but I usually end up being VERY upset and I cannot let the issue go from my mind for days...I hate that about myself, but I do not have a problem with avoiding confrontation if that makes sense..lol...

My DH on the other hand...another story..He is a nutter(LOVE that word!) in this sense...

Re: Are you a confrontational person?

I tell it like it is. My brother told our friend this morning that I have bigger cajones then the friend. It was actually a compliment to the fact that I stand up for what I believe in and won't back down until the other person can at least see my point of view. Maybe not agree with me, but at least understand it.
