Are you a reader?
I know, we have a whole board for books, but it's just a question.
Do you read books? I ask because I find that people either devour books or they don't read at all.

Re: Are you a reader?
Yup, always have been. I do that too, where I find an author and buy up everything. Then I go bookless till I find the next one.
I've read all but 2 or 3 Jeffrey Deaver books, and I just finished the Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child series.
Now I'm reading a nonfiction book about the homeless who live in the subway tunnels underneath NYC. Very interesting book.

Re: Are you a reader?
I have always been a bookworm, although lately I do a lot more reading when i'm on vacation than I do on a day-to-day basis.

Re: Are you a reader?
Every night for at least a half hour.
I would rather read than watch TV.
It makes me sad to think about the entire generation that is growing up right now. They have so many technological advances (which are great BTW ) that the love for books is almost non-exsistent.
For instance, I read Charloette's Web until the binding broke. Now, most kids have seen the movie. I do not think they will read it and use their imaginations the way I did.
As a secondary English teacher, I can say that this is true of most kids. They are always asking if they could "watch the movie" instead of reading a novel.
All of the wonderful animation, graphics, etc. leaves no room for the imagination IMO.

Re: Are you a reader?
I love to read and try to read as much as I can...but now with a toddler, its difficult!
I totally pictured my maternity leave to be spent with a book and a sleeping baby. NEVER HAPPENED!!!

Love to read. Always have, even as a child. I used to do those summer reading things at the library.

I love reading. IMO it is so much more fascinating than any tv show you watch. Every book is a new adventure. Corny I know.

Re: Are you a reader?
I forgot to answer my own question. I am a read before bed kind of person. That means I read anywhere from 5 minutes, falling asleep with book in hand, to an hour reading every night. I just hate when a book ends, though. Then it takes me a few days to find something that I can get into.

Re: Are you a reader?
I go through phases, I will read 2 or 3 books back to back and then not read any for months.

Same here. I have favorite authors and I will read everything they ever wrote. Then I will be impatient while waiting for the next book or the next author.
I also like to read a book while eating my lunch. It is a nice way to break up the day.

Re: Are you a reader?
I have a love/hate relationship with books. I love to read but get VERY engrossed. To the point where I wish I could sneak my book into work with me. I'll stay up for hours at night and read, and then be tired the next day. And then I get sad when the book is over.

Re: Are you a reader?
I definitely devour... but I do have dry spells where I just can't find a book to sink my teeth into. And I'm not the type of person to waste my time reading something even though I'm not enjoying it all... if in the first few chapters I'm not loving it, I'm done with it.
ETA: I've always been this way too... I was that kid in elem. school that left the book she was reading for fun on the corner of her desk so she can read it at any free moment . My mom's a big reader, so that's where it comes from.
