Are you a "wifey" kind of wife?
When that Cater 2 You song came out, so many people told me "oh this must be your anthem Jan"
are you extra wifey? I never though as a teen that I would be they type, but I totally am. I love cooking for him, and don't mind doing laundry, or giving him a massage. I think it is sexy.
I never feel used, like if I don't do something one day, he totally will without me saying anything, I just love taking care of him.
But my mother was also the same with my dad, so I probably picked up a lot of it from her.

Since I am unemployed now, I am more a wifey type than when I was employed.

Re: Are you a "wifey" kind of wife?
In this day and age I don't think we should be.
But I am. Even though DH does help out a LITTLE.
I work full time and am out of the house 11 hours a day. I think it should be 50/50.
My BIL sent me an e-mail from the 1950's that they gave to married couples...you should HEAR some of the crap in there!

Re: Are you a "wifey" kind of wife?
I'm not at all. I work more than he does though, and go to school full time. I think if the situation were reversed, or definitely if I was either not working or a SAHM, that I would do a lot more. I don't adhere to the traditional gender roles because that isn't what holds true for us anymore--I work as many hours, have more degrees, and make more money. I don't know why I would do everything else because I'm a woman.

Re: Are you a "wifey" kind of wife?
I am def wifey. I do everything around the house plus the errands. The only thing I don't do is cook but only because I really don't know how. At times it can be frustrating, but since I don't work I can't really complain! Although, plenty of times I do!!

Re: Are you a "wifey" kind of wife?
Normally, no. While I was home with the baby I tried to be for DH for a couple of reasons - I knew it would make him happy which would make things less stressful with the new baby. Me doing all the cooking, cleaning, and laundry really did help lower the stress levels in the house and I felt totally appreciated. It was kinda fun to play "wifey" for a little while so long as I knew it wasn't "expected" of me.
This week he played SAHD and I loved it.
Now I don't know WHAT's going to happen next week when we are both back at work. To be honest, I am a little fearful that Sh!t is gonna hit the fan and chaos will ensue. Tune in next week!

I don't feel as though we "should" be, it is something that surprises me that I am. I was also emailed the 1950's thing, I saw it as suggestions!!

Re: Are you a "wifey" kind of wife?
We both clean up the house, etc. and we pretty much split everything down the middle that we can. I work about 45-50hrs a week and don't have time to do it all.
If I didn't work I'd probably be more wifey and enjoy it...although I'm a pretty independent person and feel he should be too. I don't mind the feeling of taking care of him as long as I'm getting in return...

Re: Are you a "wifey" kind of wife?
FEELING wise...I wish I could be more.
Me personally...I feel that if I do not work...THAT becomes my job...and I would do it more without complaining. I would enjoy it.
But with me working and making more salary...I don't have time to enjoy giving...I want all the taking!
And that e-mail...are you KIDDING me!?
One of the things it "suggested" was to "put aside our petty problems, when a man comes home we should cater to them. Our complaints are meaningless".

Re: Are you a "wifey" kind of wife?
Nope. We both work so our chores are split between the two of us. If I didn't have to work, that would be a different story, but for the time being, he knows that I can't do it all nor do I want to.

Yeah, I did not take it as our's were meaningless, but I really don't nag to my DH or complain, I save that for my sisters . Since I work all day, I just like going home and being a wife.

Re: Are you a "wifey" kind of wife?
I am- for now. I work full time, and I take care of 99% of the house chores. FH works full time and goes to school full time.
It was a REALLY hard role for me to adjust to. It works for the following reasons:
- he doesn't take me for granted
- if the roles were reversed (and i may go back to school after he is done), he would happily support me the way i am supporting him
- he actually does know how to clean the way i like things to be cleaned

Re: Are you a "wifey" kind of wife?
I guess I am a bit wifey, but not so much that I don't allow him to cook and clean
DH can be "hubby" as well. He brings home flowers sometimes and makes nice breakfasts. He takes care of me, too.
I have to say, though, DH is a bit more of a Hedonist that I am. He enjoys the pleasureful things more than me. Yes, I like massages and pedicures and someone scratching my back, but not as much as DH.

Re: Are you a "wifey" kind of wife?
I'm not a wife yet....but when the day comes, I welcome it. I love to cook and make peoples day brighter through little things like cheesy notes in lunches. (corny I know!)
But I enjoy giving things as much as I would love recieving

that is exactly what I mean. Like when you watch TV together, are you sitting there, or scratching his back? I don't care if mine gets scratched, but it makes his night, so even if it gets old, I still do it.
I give him pedicures, but no way would I want him giving me one.

Re: Are you a "wifey" kind of wife?
I could answer that question with one statement my DH made after we had been married a few months -
"I think we both need a wife."
