Are you and your mom girly girls?
My FSIL and I were talking the other night and I'm not a girly girl nor is my mom, so we were trying to see if it's nature or nurture.

Re: Are you and your mom girly girls?
what's your definition of a "girly-girl"?
I'm into fashion and makeup, but I'm also a "rough & tough" type of chick.
I know where things are located in Home Depot, but I also know Sephora like the back of my hand.

my sister is VERY girly though. she designs her own clothes, etc. She dresses more fashionable in a single day than i do all year... so ya never know.

Re: Are you and your mom girly girls?
We're both kind of in between. We get our hair done and wear makeup, but draw the line at manis/pedis.

I guess a girl who is into hair and makeup and fashion. I feel so non-girly b/c I have no idea what kind of makeup I should be using, what kind of haircut or clothes would be flattering, I just slap on whatever and that's that.

I'm somewhat of a girly girl, but I have my days where I'll leave w/o makeup on hair thrown up in a ponytail and not care.
My mom though won't leave the house without her makeup and hair being perfect lol

Re: Are you and your mom girly girls?
we're both pretty middle of teh road.... not total tomboys, but not total girly- girls either. neither of us are super into clothes or shopping, and we both just go to the local "cheap" place to get our hair cut- also, no manis or pedis for me... i chip the polish too easily LOL BUT, i do like to look nice, and do spend more money than i should at the clinique counter

we both like getting pampered...getting mani and pedi's, going to the spa, getting our hair done....my mom is not into fashion, but she does like to dress nice when the occasion calls for it

Re: Are you and your mom girly girls?
I am pretty girly, but my mom's not. As a little girl, though, I was always in dresses and she did raise me to be very girly.

Re: Are you and your mom girly girls?
I think I'm a little girly, but my Mom and sister are WAY more girly than I am. They actually laughed at me this past weekend when I said I didn't want to go get a mani with them.
I get my haircut at a salon (every 6 months - hahahhaha), I take care of my clothes, and some of them are very feminine.
Lets take yesterday as an example: I wore a big fat sweater with jeans and Uggs, my sister wore a grey sweater dress with knee high boots and matching houndstooth coat.
Comfort is key with me. Being girly involves too much hemming and hawing for me. I'm short and to the point!

Re: Are you and your mom girly girls?
My mother is totally into clothes, jewelry, hair & makeup - probably a bit more than myself (she will not leave the house without makeup and earrings) - but boy was it a blast when I was growing up!!! She has a somewhat loud style too. Everyone loved the way she dressed. She was so much fun. Very classy.

Re: Are you and your mom girly girls?
We both are girly but in different ways. I think that's because she was a tomboy growing up and I was a ballerina. Of course, with 3 brothers it helps to be a tomboy because you need to be able to hold your own against them. I'm an only child so it was dance classes and barbie dolls for me until I begged her to let me stop.
I actually think she's more girly than I am, although to look at us you would think it's the opposite.

Re: Are you and your mom girly girls?
both in-between, although I may be a tad more so
we like spa things, relaxation, having tea parties, etc. - but aren't always the most fashion conscious or in make-up, etc.

Re: Are you and your mom girly girls?
My mom is a prissy and reserved girly girl, where as Im loud, say whats on my mind and so not girly. My wedding was the first ALOT of people saw me in a dress. Im more about the comfort. Not to say Im sloppy but not frilly.

Re: Are you and your mom girly girls?
This is too funny because my mom and I talk about this all the time... I am such a girly girl and my mom totally isn't (never was).. she always says to me "I don't know you where you came from.. I liked to play in the mud as a child.. and you were upstairs with your dolls and makeup" We both think it is so funny how different we are in this respect.

I'm in the same boat as you.
My mom is a girly-woman...has always had the mositurizer, make-up, right clothes.
I suspect my 3 year old daughter is going to be a girly-girl. She walks around the house in play heels & mornings always start with her crying "That is NOT a dress AND it's NOT pink. I need a PINK DRESS."
