Are you bringing granny panties to the hosptial...

...or just using the disposible undies the hospital provides?
I just bought some disgusting looking granny panties at Target but now I wonder if it will be a waste and I should return them.

Opinions?

I brought a package of the Hanes boy shorts in a size bigger than I normally wear to the hospital and I was soooooo glad I had them. They were more comfortable than the disposable ones and when I left the hospital I just chucked them.

I got a package of granny panties from Target too. They were cheap enough that I figured it was a nice to have and not a big deal if I didn't use them.

See I wear the boyshorts now and they are so comfy- I would rather bring those then those high waisted granny looking ones- but my question is- were they low rise? Would they have been ok with a C section incision if I were to have to have a C by chance?

Re: Are you bringing granny panties to the hosptial...

wound up wearing the boy short disposable underwear the whole time. I had a c-section and they were actually comfy and not so bad. I did pack the grannies though

Actually Im buying a set to bring to hospital, large ones for the fact that Im having a c-section and want them to be higher than the incision as well as the fact that they will get, um yucky.
SO i can toss them.

same.

i think you'll need the high-waist briefs in case you have a c section. that's what they recommended to us as our hospital (which does not provide the disposables.

Re: Are you bringing granny panties to the hosptial...

Yes... I have these maternity briefs (BRIEFS!!) that managed to survive from my first pregnancy - they're quite possibly the ugliest things in creation.

I wore hospital panties last time for my entire stay because I got sick after giving birth (bad bad bad stomach bug) and it was gross and nasty and I felt better in their disposables than in anything of my own but hopefully that won't be the case this time.

I bought some with my first and didn't end up using them, I really liked the ones the hospital provided. they are kind of a mesh material and they are so comfy plus they help hold the humungous pad you will be wearing after in place!Chat Icon

Re: Are you bringing granny panties to the hosptial...

Hi...
YES I actually got mine at CVS...Hanes! A few in a package and they were real cheap so I got 2 packages. Got them in white b/c I hear you bleed like crazy after giving birth. I got BRIEFS...haha! And I wanted them to be comfy so I actually bought a size bigger than I thought I'd be. Obviously I will just toss them in the garbage when I'm done wearing them...esp if I bleed in them. But if I were you - I'd definitely bring to hospital...can't hurt and it's probably more comfy than anything the hospital would give you.

I hear same goes for the pads...everyone said the pads the hospital gives you are awful. So many girls on here recommend the Always Infinity Overnights...so my hospital bag is packed with a bunch of those.

Also (sorry just sharing while things are popping in my head) - I know you are like me and NOT BF....apparently most hospitals do not provide you with nursing pads and we will need those for in our bra when our milk comes in and we leak (OH FUN!)...I was told pack a tight (size smaller than you'd normally wear) sports bra to deal with our milk coming in and stuff...since we don't want it to come in. My friend actually wrapped her b00bs in an ace bandage really tight...then put on tight sports bra...she said her milk never even came in doing that.

HTH!

I did for Abby and I needed them. In fact, I added them to my maternity panty arsenal and am wearing a pair as we speak. Yeah I said it.

I liked the disposable underwear! They were surprisingly comfortable considering you are wearing them with a horse pad attached to a wee wee pad/chuck! Chat Icon

I brought regular cotton underwear to wear after that though. Hipsters not grannies.

Re: Are you bringing granny panties to the hosptial...

Since I went through this just one week ago-yes I brought granny panties and was glad I did. You want to be in your own clothes and because of any swelling, plus the big old pads you wear, granny panties are a must (I even bought a size bigger to have some extra room). I even wore them every day since being home. Today was the first day wearing my regular bikinis. It will be a while before I put a thong back on though. Chat Icon

Re: Are you bringing granny panties to the hosptial...

I've been wearing my regular underwear the entire pregnancy. So I will probably pick a few older ones to bring. I think I wore the throw-away ones the first night and then switched to regular underwear the next day when I took a shower.

Re: Are you bringing granny panties to the hosptial...

yes I did and Im glad I did because I ended up with a csection I never would have been able to wear the bikini lower ones I usually wear. The first day I wore the disposable ones they provided but after that I wore what I brought I was much more comfortable in what in what I had.

bring them. well, i can only speak for those who are having a section. I did and I was SO happy that I did.

the mesh ones are annoying. if you plan to wear your own pads, I dont know how well the mesh will work.

BRING your own pads Chat Icon Always Infinity are awesome! (the overnight ones)

Me too. I wore the hospital provided disposable underwear, and I even took some home with me so I could wear them while I was still bleeding pretty heavily. They were comfortable and held the gigantic pad in place well. And like you, I bought hipsters and wore them when my bleeding slowed down once I was home.

Re: Are you bringing granny panties to the hosptial...

my hospital didn't have disposable ones.

I got briefs in the size i was pre-pg. They were awesome for a few reasons (Yes.. i said grannies were AWESOME! lol):
-I didn't have a c/s, but after i delivered, my whole stomach just felt like jelly- wearing grannies that were high and snug felt like they just held everything together- it was really comfortable.
- i really think that if i had anything low rise, that i would have just bled over the top of them! I wore the big pads from the hospital with the disposable chucks. The grannies kept them all in place and felt like it made everything feel neater.
- a 5 pack from walmart was like $5. I bought a couple of packs of white ones and threw out the ones that got really messy. The others i washed with bleach and they didnt look icky lol

I really never thought grannies could bring so much happiness. I think I'm actually looking forward to wearing them again Chat Icon Chat Icon

I've been wearing hanes bikinis a size bigger than normal throughout pregnancy and they're not that bad. I'll be bringing those with me.
