Re: Are you preparing for a possible hurricane this weekend?
I'm not too concerned. I have a feeling that it's going to be mainly a rain event.
Since I BF, all I really need for DD are my boobs But since I make my own baby food, I might pick up a few jars of Earth's Best to have on hand *just in case the fridge goes.
DH and I can survive on peanut butter sandwiches if need be

I am preparing to leave on vacation so hopefully I can get out of here.
Me too! I hope this does not wreak havoc on our plans!

Re: Are you preparing for a possible hurricane this weekend?
We lose power very easily so I am going to make sure that we have enough flashlights and batteries - which I probably should have done after the last time we lost power!

Ugghhh...I know. I am getting nervous now as I don't know if we will get delayed or cancel our flight. A delay would be fine but not a cancellation. And I would love to know how they figure this out and if they re-route you further west to go south-lol.

Re: Are you preparing for a possible hurricane this weekend?
Not going to go crazy or anything. I will buy batteries for flashlights, have enough basic food in the house that does not have to be put in oven. My stove is gas, so I can light that even if there's no power. The grill has propane. I will probably try to make some extra ice, just in case i have to put milk and eggs in the cooler.

Is your stove natural gas or propane? I'm only asking because ours is natural glass and does not work when the power is out.

Guess we should head to the store and stock up on wine, since we can drink that at room temperature.

That is because it has an electric ignitor most likely.

Re: Are you preparing for a possible hurricane this weekend?
I'm not going nuts, I am just getting some batteries for our flash light, filling our cars on Friday and getting some things for dd. If on Friday it looks like it will actually pass over us I'll worry about it than.

Re: Are you preparing for a possible hurricane this weekend?
I'll make sure I have some bottled water, dog food, diapers and milk. A flashlight or 2.
That's pretty much it.
My parents live 3 miles away and have a generator and spare rooms- so I'll go there if need be.
ETA: I have a propane gas oven/stove so I will be able to cook.

Right
I THINK you can manually light it though- my parents used to have to stick like an aim n flame in there with the gas turned on and it would light...

Re: Are you preparing for a possible hurricane this weekend?
I was at Costco earlier and I literally got the last package of D batteries. I couldn't even believe it. People were going nuts buying flash lights and lanterns. Guess some people really are preparing way early.
