Are you preparing for Hurricane Matthew?

It looks like Hurricane Matthew might be hitting us early to mid next week. Is anyone preparing for it yet?

We're not. On any given day, we have enough food in the house for a week or more, I have plenty of flashlights and batteries, we have a gas stove and a propane grill, so we're pretty set all the time.

I am watching the progression, though, just so I know what to expect.

I'm going to pick up batteries and bottled water when I do my regular grocery shopping, but that's about it.

Re: Are you preparing for Hurricane Matthew?

Remember the big one that was coming on Labor Day weekend?

And then everyone ended up with a ton of bread of milk and nothing to do with it!

Not really. DH put all the backyard furniture away yesterday because he will be away, but that had to be done anyway. And like you, we always have a at least a few cases of water, plenty of food and batteries in the house, and we also have a gas stove and propane grill. If it starts looking really bad next week, I guess we'll get the generator out of the shed and get it ready to go

Re: Are you preparing for Hurricane Matthew?

No. It's till too far away and I have a full pantry and freezer.
Only thing I might need is milk, break and produce, which I buy weekly anyway.

Re: Are you preparing for Hurricane Matthew?

I thought last report I heard was that its on track to miss us and either way its to early to worry about it now!

Anyway I usually have food in my house we have a generator and we have a gas stove so I guess I am preperaed. Though I will have to go out to actually get milk because my son is addicted to it so I am sure the store will be crazy when I do have to go!

Re: Are you preparing for Hurricane Matthew?

As of right now we are not doing anything. We will put furniture away, fill up the car with gas etc if it seems serious. Again like others have posted labor day weekend turned out to be a lovely weekend despite all the news outlets forecasting for a wash out so erring on the side of not doing much.

Re: Are you preparing for Hurricane Matthew?

The only thing we are doing to prepare is take down our pool (one of those intex pools) and put away a few outside things. Will probably get some wind either way.

Are you preparing for Hurricane Matthew?

I have to do my shopping Friday, I'm planning to do my normal shopping for the month. I have gas and if worse came to worse my parents have a generator and live a few blocks from me. I'll likely just grab a case of water and put gas in my car Friday. Being pregnant I don't like taking a chance right now and can't deal with the craziness if it does hit
My house has batteries stocked up and what not all the time and my dog always has extra food

I might pick up a couple flashlights and check we have batteries. I've been meaning to do it anyway because we're down to only 1 flashlight with a good bulb. My block loses power pretty frequently if it's windy, usually for only an hour.

Nothing too crazy. I'm just going to make sure we have enough milk and formula. And baking stuff to keep my oldest busy.
