Are you taking your kids to church for Easter?
Judging from the lovely "serenade" at the top of her lungs that Sophie (my DD) gave everyone at the food court in the mall yesterday, I am having a hard time visualizing DD at Church on Easter. Are you taking your young children?

Yep, I take mine every sunday now. I try to make sure his bottle coincides with the mass, once we get there and settle in i have it ready to give him during the bulk of the mass and he's happy as a clam. Easter masses are usually a bit longer, but you should bring her, there will be LOTS of people and other babies there!!!

Re: Are you taking your kids to church for Easter?
We're giving it a shot. We took DS to church when he was very young and he could stay in the infant seat. Once he outgrew the seat, it was tough, because he couldn't stand, but didn't want to sit in my lap for the whole time either. Christmas Eve is the last time we went and it was a wrestling match.
He is starting to walk now, so I am hoping he may be better if he can stand in the pew and walk around in the back if he wants to stand up.

Re: Are you taking your kids to church for Easter?
Yes, our church on Easter is very child friendly. They have butterflies hanging from the lights, and they have balloons filling the ceiling of the church. If any child gets antsy, any adult can stand up and reach for a ballon string.
DS, although only 5 months went to church with me yesterday for Palm Sunday. Our pastor said a prayer, and DS proceeded to let out a BUUUURP. The he decided to babble back to the pastor as she was speaking. Quite comical, many people had a good chuckle.

Re: Are you taking your kids to church for Easter?
Yes, we take her a lot so we know what to expect. It is a chore at this age in that she doesn't want to site still, cries, etc.
They have a family room, so we can view Mass from their and she can run amok.
On Easter they have a children's mass at 9:30 so we will shoot for that one.
It's important to me that she get used to going to church so we just deal with it.

We go every week, so yes. I will try to go to an earlier mass that is less crowded, but we'll see if that happens.

Re: Are you taking your kids to church for Easter?
I went this past sunday and Kailey was very good. My church also has a family room (glass windows) to view and hear the mass from. I went with the hopes to get through, but worst case we'd leave early....Figured that's better than not trying to go at all.

Re: Are you taking your kids to church for Easter?
yes.. we try & take her every Sunday... she's pretty used to it by now.
She's actually coming w/ us to Easter Vigil - not sure how that is going to work out... we'll see.
YEsterday at palm sunday mass she must have been paying attention to the priest b/c all of the sudden she kept saying "jesus christ, jesus christ"

Re: Are you taking your kids to church for Easter?
Yes, my children have always been well behaved in Church - a little antsy, but fine. I also try to get to the Children's Mass if I can so it doesn't matter if they are antsy.

Re: Are you taking your kids to church for Easter?
Yes I am.... there are 2 services that I am not anticipating to go well....
Holy Friday where we do the epitafio services.... it's at around 8pm, and then Holy Saturday where it's midnight mass....
She's not going to be happy to be woken so late.

Re: Are you taking your kids to church for Easter?
Yes. The last couple of times we've gone, DD has FLIPPED OUT the second we got into the pew -- I'm *really* hoping that doesn't happen again!

Re: Are you taking your kids to church for Easter?
The church we go to encourages children to participate and there are tons of families with lots of children near my DD's age. We went on palm sunday and DD was surprisingly quiet she did go to my parents and DH and I and turned around to wave at the children behind us. She did talk a little but not the craziness I usually expect. Our church encourages the children to come up to the front at certain times during the service and it is typical to see parents walking a child up and down the aisles, they even have rocking chairs in the back if you need them. I always bring a drink and some snacks (as I see others doing too) and some books and quiet toys to occupy her. It is a cathedral that we go to so it is a gorgeous church with a LOT to look at and a really nice organ so I think DD likes to look around and listen to the music so that helps. I would never consider going to a non family service though.

Re: Are you taking your kids to church for Easter?
I usually take DS every Sunday to church ~ I am not sure if I am going to take him because it is going to be sooo crowded and I bring him in his car seat (usually he is still napping when we first get there) and he gets supppper heavy & leaving it will take forever to get out of the chuch ~ I am still undecided.
