Are your pets scared of the vacuum?
I swear my girl kitty is scared to death of it! The boy, not so much. My husband whipped out the vacuum the other day and was rolling it over to the outlet- not even turned on- and he said it was like he was chasing her with an ax! She fled and hid in the very back corner of the spare bedroom and was literally shaking. Poor baby! The boy just sat from a distance and watched like a statue.
One time I had brought the vacuum in the kitchen to clean up in there and she was in there- she felt trapped I guess and couldn't run to her "safe" spot so she jumped on the counter and cowered in the corner of the counter behind the toaster oven! (she's a kitten so it was an easy fit)
I feel so bad for her. My old kitty was the same way.
Anyone else have a scaredy cat (or dog)?

YES!! My cat disappears completely and my dog barks constantly, the whole time it is on.

Re: Are your pets scared of the vacuum?
Nope - not at all.
I vacuum my cat He LOVES it.
He jumps on the couch or on the bed everytime I go to vacuum with the upholestry brush & rolls over on his back or sticks his tushy up in the air
If I don't pay attention to him; he starts swatting at the attachment with his paw as I'm vacuuming.
DH thinks I'm sick that I have pushed my OCD with cleaning onto our cat...

Re: Are your pets scared of the vacuum?
Brinkley either completely ignores it or thinks it's a toy to play with. His first week home, we introduced it by rolling it out to the middle of the living room and leaving it there. Then turned it on and walked away from it. Let him investigate. Then started moving it around.
He doesn't like to be vacuumed but I still chase him around with the dust buster. It's hilarious.

Re: Are your pets scared of the vacuum?
My dogs aren't really scared, they don't hide or anything, but they usually go lay down in the next room or outside like they prefer not to be around. I think it's too noisy for them.

Mine aren't terrified of it, but they do avoid it. I think it's more the noise they don't like.

Re: Are your pets scared of the vacuum?
Whenever the vacuum comes out Kasey gets all excited and jumps around like we're going to play with it. Then when it gets turned on she usually makes a mad dash for her crate. Then she'll get brave again and come back but won't get too close until it's turned off again.
She makes us laugh!!

Re: Are your pets scared of the vacuum?
My girl is deathly afraid, would jump through a glass window to get away so I have to make sure she has room to escape. My boy used to chase the vacumm and attack it until I tried Ceasar's method and now he leaves it alone!

Same here. She runs straight for the sofa when she sees me pull it out. She has become somewhat curious of the dustbuster though . What can I say...she's my big, 60 lb baby.

My dog doesn't seem to care beyond the fact that she knows I can't play with her while i am using it, so she just follows me around until I am done.
