argh! water in the basement AGAIN!
since DH and i moved to our apt last year we have had major problems w/ water in our basement.
it happened again last night. so we called our landlord earlier this morning to tell her we're calling the plumber.
it turns out the sewer line is backing up into our basement..... sigh....
(not to mention we just had our cleaning service here on saturday and now the house is a mess again....) double sigh....

That is really stinky. We were lucky when we rented a basement apartment, never had flooding.
But our pipes to our oil burner froze constantly in the winter leaving no hot water and no heat.
Hope it gets resolved quickly for you guys!

Re: argh! water in the basement AGAIN!
Have you checked the drains on the top of the house? Our basement apt flooded last May because our window wells could not handle the down pour because the drains were completely clogged with leaves and debris. We since check the drains every couple of months and put window well covers on all the window wells.
We also installed a sump pump system, but since we have the window well covers, the sump pump system is only a back up.

Re: argh! water in the basement AGAIN!
our landlord cheaps out on stuff like that.
the plumber snaked out the pipe and said that it should be ok now.
we're going to deduct what we paid the plumber from our rent for next month.
