Re: Arkansas Initiative 1: Ban on Gay couples adopting children..passed.
Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed have been happily together for 20+ years. They have one of the strongest relationships I've seen. They are also extremely stable. However, despite how loving, stable, and able to handle an adopted child, they wouldn't be able to..... how is that fair to foster care children?
Yet, a couple who signs a piece of paper in front a Justice of the Peace is automatically considered to be more stable? (I realize that there are other criteria, observations, etc, but if a man and a woman sign that marriage license, that allows them to go to the next step, whereas the stable unmarried couple can't even get that far....)
I think it's a horrible, biased, uninformed law....

Exactly, and what about Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell, they have been together for 25 years!!
BTW- 50% of marriages end in divorce, so should we take their children away because according to this law their households are now unstable?!?!?!?

Ironic how most of those voting in favor of this are also Pro Life (Anti Abortion)
Sooooo, don't abort the pregnancies, but don't DARE allow anyone other than a Mommy and Daddy family to raise the unwanted child ........- How very intelligent
Is ironic the right term? I always use it wrong .......

NOT ALL pro-lifers feel this way...please remember that. Some of us CANNOT adopt, who want to.
you also don't like in Arkansas
dina, I am a bit surprised. I thought this would anger you a little more...since it's this false issue of stability and where they *think* it's found that is stopping YOU from adopting.
i think placing ANY requirement on the home BESIDE being stable in ANY and EVERY way is ludicrious.
there are PLENTY of "traditional marriages" that I wouldn't allow to adopt a RODENT, let alone a child.
we need to step away from these cliches and antiquated ideas.
I was at a closing, so I am just seeing this now
Jess I am VERY angry about this... What can I do??? I do not live there. I am outraged and disgusted. I CAN see their thought process, but I certainly do not agree with it. KWIM?
