asthma/allergy medicine
for those of u w/ asthma & allergies, what doc put u on your current treatment plan? Pulmonologist, GP, OBGYN?
I called my ob and he told me any asthma medication is fine..... but...... that seems like an odd answer. who really worked w/ u on your asthma/allergy game plan while pregnant?

Re: asthma/allergy medicine
My allergist.
For my allergies, I was able to continue flonase but not Allegra. I thankfully haven't had to use my inhaler, so I've never asked. They did stop increasing the dosage on my allergy shots, just maintaining where I was. It will pick up again after I deliver.

Re: asthma/allergy medicine
Both my RE and my OB/GYN approved the Singulair and Nasonex cocktail that I had already been on. If I dont take those daily, I cannot breathe at all.
I would ask your doctors.

Re: asthma/allergy medicine
Both my allergist & my OB approved daily use of Zyrtec, Singulair & Pulmicort, as they're all class B meds. I was using Asmanex (class C) as my daily inhaler, but my allergist immediately took me off of it & put me on Pulmicort instead as soon as I told her I was pregnant.
I also use Combivent (class C) as my emergency inhaler & Xopenex (class C) in my nebulizer when I need them. Both my docs told me to lay off of them unless it's 100% absolutely necessary now, but they also told me that I should use them if I need to. An emergency is an emergency and in my allergist's words "How much harm is not breathing going to cause your baby?" I couldn't argue with that logic!!
In any event, I'd recommend speaking with your allergy doc first & then verifying everything that he/she tells you with your OB...

I haven't seen my doctor, but she told me to discontinue the flonase over the phone (which I take for allergies).

Re: asthma/allergy medicine
My pulminary specialist and my OB were informed (through me) what was being told to me by the other. I was told to take ALL of my medications, even the advair despite it being a class C medication. My pulminary specilist said that it is better that I breath and get 100% oxygen, rather than to suffocate and risk the baby not getting all of my air. So, I take my Singulair, Advair, and Albuterol inhaler as needed.
