AT&T iPhone people! Question about service.
I live in Queens. Howard Beach to be exact and I cannot get a signal in my apartment. I literally have to walk outside to at least get one bar and even then, it's in and out. I live in a ground floor walk in so it's not like Iam in the basement. I also work in Queens and have no problems at all when I am anywhere else but my house. It is my only phone and it really bothers me that I can't make or receive calls when I am home unless I walk around searching for a signal. I had the same problem with Tmobile and they allowed me to break my contract for free because of this. I just thought it was their coverage that was poor. Now, I don't know what to do! My bf has the same phone and does not have these problems. Occasionally he will have a few less bars but nothing like what I am dealing with.
Anyone else having similar problems? What the heck can I do?

I just don't know if it's just AT&T or if this is just going to happen with any carrier I have. I'll be sitting at home watching TV and get a voicemail from my BF saying "umm I've been trying to call you for an hour" and it annoys me b/c what if it were an emergency? Or if I needed help, ya know?
At first we thought it was the phone itself but it works fine when I am out of the house. Urrr

I just did the update on my 3Gs and the update stated that the service was not correctly measured on the phone, which means the service just got worse but the phone wasn't reflecting it.
Ever since I did that update I've had poor signal.

You know....I was trying to think back to when I first got the phone and I remember right away I noticed that it was excellent compared to when I had Tmobile (which was the same problem I'm having now).
It definitely has gotten worse in the year I've had it. After I did the update, FB no longer allows me to do status updates from my phone and whenever I post a comment, it closes the APP once it posts. I'm so PO!!

And i have called AT&T numerous times and they tried to tell me that it was a tower that was being repaired or something but I don't believe it.

Is there a way to go to an AT&T store to see if your phone is defective? You say that your boyfriend has the same phone and he doesn't have that problem in your house. To me, that sounds like there might be an issue with your device.
I'm not familiar with AT&T, so I don't know if they deal with service issues in their stores, but it is worth a shot assuming you have a protection plan on the phone.

My boyfriend was having the same problem. For some dumb reason we only had one set of apt keys so he would call me to open the door. He could not get a signal in the vicinity of the front door. This went on for awhile, he then had another small issue and took the phone in and they found out that it wasn't activated properly and that is what was causing problems. Now, no issues. Oh, and i have the same phone and never had issues in the smae spot.

dh and i both had at&t and had horrible service. i tried to call 911 once and got a dropped call... that was the last straw. i called em, bitchinggg and complaining that it was unacceptable. they gave me such a hard time about trying to cancel but eventually i got out of the contract. i think verizon has the best service. yeah, u pay more but the service is the best outta all the companies.

My GF and one of my coworkers both have trouble now after they uploaded the new software. They don't receive calls, reception suxs and for my coworker the new update wiped out his contact list. I would call AT&T and beyotch.

This is my worst fear. Especially since I live alone. That is basically how I got out of my Tmobile contract. I told them flat out that I live alone and this is my only phone. They tried to get me to purchase one of the those hotspot router things and I said "oh yeah, because I really should be giving you MORE money for your sh!tty service". Finally, they let me out and didn't charge me the $200.

Well, if you really want to leave AT&T you can try Verizon or Sprint.
If you go to Sprint, you have 30 days to try the service for free. If you cancel within 30 days, they will return your money for the phone, no activation fee, no cancellation fee and they won't charge you at all for any pro-rated service that you used.
So technically, you could go open a Sprint account, take the phone home and try out the service for free. If you like it, keep it. If it doesn't work, return it and get all your money back.
