I have no intentions any time soon since she ONLY uses it to sleep and we take it out in public for meltdowns.

Steven is still very young, but if he is still using it at 3 years old, that is when I will stop. As long as it's not interfering with his social interacting, I don't mind if he uses it.

As it is now he only uses it for naps and bedtime. Or else he spits it out.

When she's ready. I don't have huge issues with the paci. I mean I'm not sending her to kindergarten with it or anything. I guess I just trust that she'll give it up on her own when she's ready.

I agree with this. DD is almost 3 and just recently she decided on her own to give up the bottle. She just started to ask for all her beverages in sippy cups. She has used cups since she was 1 year but I never took away the bottle.

I plan on doing the same w/ the paci. I am sure sooner or later she will be ready to give it up. For now it gives her comfort, soothes her when she's tired and is only used before bed or when she's tired.

Not yet. Sara only has 2 teeth so it soothes her. She only uses it when she is tired anyway

I planned at one but when he had no teeth and it soothed him I changed my mind. But around 1 - I limited it to sleeping times gradually except when his teething was really bad and nothing else worked (he didn't get his 1st tooth until 13.5 months). Now at 2, he still uses it to sleep only. We never give it to him otherwise and he doesn't even look for it outside of that - even with bad teething. He knows out of the crib - to throw it back in. My doctor said to get rid of it now - but I am not ready for the lack of sleep. Maybe sometime afer baby 2 and he is all settled into a big boy bed.

Re: At what age did you/are you planning on getting rid of pacifier?

Soon. She'll be 9 months old Monday. She doesn't use it during the day, and I suspect she doesn't even realize when she doesn't have it to fall asleep. I stopped giving it to her in the car, as well, and she seems no worse for the ware. If she still needs it for bed, I won't worry too much, but I figured that if she's not all that attached to it, why do we still have it?

My 1st used it only for sleep, too and I weaned him at 18 months. I'm so glad DS #2 never used one!

I started weening Bella at around 5-6 mts. At that point, she could only use it for naps, bedtime and the car. Now she only uses it for sleep/naps and only if she's very cranky in the car (b/c she wants to sleep, not for any other reason). She's 1 yr now, and I hope by 2 she'll be off it completely.

dd only uses it for sleeping, I don't even have one with me when we go out. I would like to get rid of it, but we have too many other things going on right now. Sleeping is an issue anyway so I don't want to start with that too.

Roman is 13 months and we'll probably do it soon. He rarely even takes it anymore, so I don't think it'll be a huge deal.

I have no idea Chat Icon She only has it for naps, bed and in the car. I only give it to her in public if she is really tired & cranky.

Probably soon. I try not to take them out with them. If they see them they instantly want them.

DS is 7 months and hardly uses one (once a week) He ends up taking it out and chewing on the wrong side
