Re: at what age did you introduce meats?

We started meats about 6 months (he's now 7-1/2) ... I started with something easy - chicken with apples (1/2 jar) for a few days. I tasted it, it tasted like apple sauce.
Then I moved onto chicken with butternut squash.
Slowly I introduces Turkey dinner and just last week I tried beef.

He's not a huge fan of the meats but will tolerate them. I don't feed them every day. If you look at a jar of baby food, it will say 2g of protien which isn't a ton - babycereal has more I think.

I made a few things - some were disasters, some were success. I read to pureee the meat when it is COLD in order to avoid the grainy textures. You can mix any combo of things together to make what you want.

Chicken, sweet potato, apple
beef, carrots, white potato
turkey, rice, peas

any combo works/

interesting about the protein. cause that's why i'm thinking of giving him meats - he seems extremely hungry and i figure if i introduce a little more protein he will be more full. but maybe i should just add more cereal to his fruits and veggies? Chat Icon

Around 6 months. ALWAYS mixed it with a fruit or veggie, never gave it alone.

DD has been getting meats since about 5 &1/2- 6 months (she'll be 7) She's had chicken and turkey (from jar) and that only because i can't find any other meats to give her other than the meat sticks.
