at what age did you stop giving your DC jarred food?

DS much prefers feeding himself. he is about 10 months old. of course based on how much ends up in his lap and the floor i can't really be too sure about how much food he is actually eating Chat Icon

i have a few jars of baby food left and i do not want to buy anymore. crazy or no?

If DS had any interest in table food I would ditch those jars in a second Chat Icon I'm sure he will let you know if he's still hungry so I wouldn't worry about him not getting enough.

Re: at what age did you stop giving your DC jarred food?

DD stopped herself at 10 months. She just decided that she wanted to do it herself.

In the beginning, it made for very long meal times. It took her a while to feed herself enough because a lot ended up missing her mouth, but she was determined and I let her. She learned very quickly to get it in her mouth.

I had a whole cabinet full of jarred food. My church outreach made out in the deal.

Frankie has been eating table food for some time now, only supplemented by jarred food. However, lately, he turns his nose up at pureed peas and the like. I guess he enjoys the pot roast much more!!! I will try to use up what I have left and then call it quits...probably by next week he will be eating exclusively "people food."Chat Icon

10 months here and Abby is still on jarred foods because she refuses to pick up table food at all. I'd love to stop.

Landon wanted nothing to do with baby food around that same age. I still (at 13 months) give him some jarred fruits along with his yogurt, but thats the only way he'll eat any baby food.

DS prefers table food over baby food, so he only gets 1 container of baby food a day. He wants to eat what we are eating.Chat Icon Which is good bc then I don't have to switch him over.

Re: at what age did you stop giving your DC jarred food?

DS is 14 months and he is mostly on table foods but I haven't figured out the whole veggie thing yet so I still give him a jar of veggies a day and if he is constipated, I will give him a jarred fruit as well.

Re: at what age did you stop giving your DC jarred food?

Ryan is almost 16 months and still gets some here and then but just in addition to his table food meal b/c I have a ton left and to practice self-feeding.

He has a divided plated with 3 section so I usually do meat in one, a little of a jarred food in another (and give him a spoon to feed himself) and something else in the other section (usually cheese or cheerios Chat Icon )

I don't continue to buy the jars though - once I'm done with what's in there, that's it.

Re: at what age did you stop giving your DC jarred food?

Around a year Chelsea didn't want anything to do with them. Sometimes I can still get her to eat the gerber graduate meals but usually only the ravioli since she can feed them to herself.

DS is on real food and has been for a while, but i still supplement with jarred foods--especially the veggies since i'm not so good about having them in the house.

Re: at what age did you stop giving your DC jarred food?

#1 stopped around 13 months old on her own
#2, just turned two and we are still on Stage 3s.
Why cause she likes it, asks for it, and doesn't eat hardly anything. My PED says one day she'll stop and it's fine with me cause i know she's eating veggies and a balanced meal with it.

Re: at what age did you stop giving your DC jarred food?

I'll give DD a jar or two when out, if she refuses to eat or we are in a rush. She's not much of a fan of them these days, so it's rare I get her to eat them. She is 14 months.
