At what age did your child wear
size 5 shoes? I am trying to figure out if I should put them away with his 18-24 months or keep them out with his 6-9/12 month clothing.

That's really up to the baby to decide! Lily will be a year soon, and she's still in Size 2.

This was how Steven was:
started walking at 10 months, size 4.5
12 months, size 5
15 months, 5.5
18 months, 6
The people in the shoe store told me they should get measured every 3 months, and that is about when he needs the next size.
Oh, also...he's been in size 12-18 month clothes for about a year now. He is only now, at 18 months, fitting in pants 18-24 months. So the clothing size doesn't have much to do with shoe size (I dont' think).

 You're right! I was just looking for an average. I'm going to keep them available in case his feet grow. We just got a ton of brand new hand me downs - most have tags on them still and there were some shoes so I wasn't sure what to do.

dd got her first pair of walking shoes last week - 1 year old - size 5 wide!!! didnt realize she had such big feet lol

You're right! I was just looking for an average. I'm going to keep them available in case his feet grow. We just got a ton of brand new hand me downs - most have tags on them still and there were some shoes so I wasn't sure what to do.
And I never realized Lily had TINY feet until I read this post!
What I do with shoes....I keep them all out in her closet with the current size (and season's style, of course) on one shelf. The pairs that she doesn't fit into yet are on the shelf below that in size order, all ready for her little feet to grow into them.

Lucas is 11 months and in size 4. I think we will soon move to 4.5 but 5 won't be for a while..earliest I'm thinking will be at the end of this year.

I thought DS was a 4.5 and then when i took him to stride rite and they measured him he is a 5.5W!  Now I know why he hated to wear shoes---they were too tight! I had no idea, they seemd to fit OK.

Awww don't worry all shoes are different. If you didn't have a hard time getting them on and his toes weren't crunched when you took them off they were probably fine. Not to mention Stride Rite usually tells you a 1/2 size bigger so you can get at least 3 mos use out of them.

I agree that you can not figure shoe size just by age. My son andd his friend are the same age and 4 whole shoe sizes different
