At what age do DC stop "believing" in Santa?

At what age do you think they stop believing or become too old?

I want to buy Elf on a shelf and start the tradition for DS and my nephews but my oldest nephew is 7...I know he still believes now but Im just wondering if he will stop soon.

TIA!!

Re: At what age do DC stop "believing" in Santa?

I suppose it's different for all kids/families but my one nephew, who is 11, just found out for sure in the past few weeks. Not sure how it came up now and I did not get the full story but I heard my sis talking to my other sis about it the other day.

I think there are different levels of believing. I recall the time where I still believed in Santa but knew that mall Santas were helpers and then also that my mom and dad did help him get some presents. I'm not sure if everyone goes through that gradual "let down".

Hey, I'm 37 and I still believe! Chat Icon

ETA: Whether or not they believe in Santa is one thing... the question is, when do they understand that an elf doll is incapable on spying on them to tell Santa, or mom and dad, not to get them good stuff!!! Chat Icon You may buy a little extra time on that supernatural comprehension! Chat Icon

Robbie suspected for a long time.. but only really 'demanded' the truth last year when he was 8.

Noah - on the other hand - is 7 and has ZERO suspicions.

It really just depends on the kid.. but I think for the most part they are all clued in by 4th-5th grade (9/10 years old). If they haven't figured it out on their own by then, some spoil sport at school will tell them!

It depends on whether they have an older sibling, who, during a tiff, retorts with, "OH YEAH WELL GUESS WHAT THERE'S NO SANTA CLAUS" Chat Icon

Re: At what age do DC stop "believing" in Santa?

DD#1 is 9 and she still believes. She knows that some kids do not believe. The kids on the bus told her that there was No Santa about 2 years ago. They told her tha the parents really buy the gifts. So I told her, that if you believe in Santa then HE brings the gifts and you get alot more because moms and dads can not afford to buy ALL those presents. The kids that do not believe get a few things from their parents. It worked, because she was like, OH, I believe Mom, don't you? I also overheard her explaining this to one of her friends and they made a pact to keep believingChat Icon

My step sons believed until at least 10 (which I thought was old). My younger step son just turned 11 and I think he might still believe...
