At what age do we lower the mattress on the crib?

At what age do we lower the mattress on the crib?
This must be a dumb question, but we set up our crib and all, and our crib - like many - has 3 mattress positions. So, naturally, we put the mattress on the highest position, for the infant.
But, when do we start to lower the mattress? When do we use the other 2 seetings? At what age?

Its not by age, its by milestones which can vary. You lower once when they start to be able to sit up. You lower again when they start to pull to standing.

Which for me was 6 months.

we lowered our dd's mattress to the 2nd setting when she was 6 months old

i think we lowered ours at 8 months or so....maybe even slightly later.
